I posted a photo of the Heysel memorial on my Facebook today. Some bitter I used to work with pipes up: "pity a lot of people on Merseyside don't bother to remember that particular tragedy".

 

I reminded him that I've seen loads of Liverpool fans post about it, the club remembers it and I played in a remembrance game between the two sets of fans a few years ago.

I've told the story on here before how he was trying to queue jump at the players ticket collection office at the old main stand giving it the big 'don't you know who I am?' in a rage a few minutes before kick off, before he was told to get back in line.

 

I was in the queue and we all had a good laugh at his expense.

I think he’s got a point. The fans and players didn’t want it, but both those clubs competing in the final wanted out of the competition.
