Sassy, did you notice any Everton related news when we signed Mina (other than hysterical laughter).
I know he’s not even nearly on a Jane’s scale but was there any buzz at all?
@Noisy noise annoyse When Mina was signed by Everton there was also some buzz, no as big as James of course but many Colombians were excited about him coming to Everton. After all, this club has a great history and importance in football. Moreover, Mina got signed after he had a great world cup by scoring three goals for Colombia thus many people were happy that he was moving to a club that he was actually going to have a chance to play unlike what was happening in Barcelona. However, as much as we love Mina he is not as entertaining to watch as James so while some of us kept up with Everton we weren't following the club as closely as we are right now. But like another Colombian has mentioned on this Forum, we tend to follow players but once we get to follow a club where some of our players play and succeed then we tend to become followers of the team for life too :)

Just seen a few artists impressions from the 657th public consultation of the stadium.

The inside just looks like any other "new" stadium that's been built in the last 20 years. Not sure where they have got this idea from that it was going to be iconic.

Got the Echo today and can't work out why there is another consultation, what in gods name is going on, either build the fucking thing or shut up about it.

It says in the article that due to the objections and possible appeals that construction won't start until after 2021.

On a serious note, no other city in this country seems to have as many heritage nazis and nimbys constantly stifling any regeneration as Liverpool does. Manchester had £1bn of projects approved yesterday including a second arema and massive tower blocks in the city centre.

Yet as soon as anyone wants to build anything over 10 floors in Liverpool or near the Liver Buildings an army of professional objectors appear to either have a say in the design or get it stopped.

This constant blackmail about losing Heritage status is a blight on potential progress

Wouldn't mind but a lot of the nimbys are based on the Wirral who complain about views from across the river and the heritage bods are based elsewhere in the country.

You can build a ton of skyscrapers in the shape of 80s mobile phones, Gherkins and cheese graters by the Tower of London, a building of historic national and international significance but if someone wants to build anything near an insurance building constructed about 100 years ago everyone loses their mind and puts a spanner in the works.

The Littlewoods building on Edge Lane has gone to a public consultation. God knows why when it regenerates a massive derelict building and will bring significant employment to the area in the shape of the film industry.

Sometimes they can be stalling tactics because the developers haven't got the money.

Evertonian logic.

Go on about Liverpool all year long, psychoanalyse every single thing the club does on or off the pitch. Make a load of half baked accusation and lies but continue to take the moral high ground over everything.

As soon as a Liverpool fan points out something about Everton, all Kopites are obsessed, dig out a David Conn article, how badly Shankly was treated by the club. Murderers, Heysel etc.

Apparently in the Echo there was a piece about a Merseyrail rapist who wore a Liverpool shirt.

Obviously, GOT waded in with 'redshite behaviour' etc, but one lone weirdo said that it didn't matter who he supported and hoped and thought reds would also want to give him a kicking. He obviously got dogs' abuse for that, until Catcherintherye stepped in to end the argument and confirm that, yes, all redshite would support the rapist.

Yes, there are sane, resonable blues, but for fuck's sake.

I bet one of them said "bet the redshite said it was Chelsea"

But that white, it looks almost silver, Like silverware and trophies. Just let that just disseminate in your heads a while. The future is silver, And blue. Royal blue.

Manchester has been streamlined for getting developments done for the last 20 years or more. Quick decision processes, not terrified of someone making a profit, powers vested in the leader so if you can convince him of a scheme there's near certainty it will go ahead. Complete contrast to the never-ending talking shop that has characterised  Liverpool's approach. It might be better now (I've not dealt with either council for a few years) but two decades is a lot of catching up.

Liverpool city council must have councillors like Cox and Evans in those Reeves and Mortimer sketches.

That councillor Steve Munby seems to object to every single but of development in the city. Must put developers off and send them down the East Lancs road.

Yeah the only thing that should stop them building it is funding.

Nah.

I'm more concerned with the impact it would have on traffic in and out of the City every matchday.  It would allow a few pubs and takeaways to spring up in the immediate vicinity of the ground, but it would fuck half the businesses in the City Centre.

It's the wrong location for a football stadium, so I'm relieved it's never getting built.

Liverpool is a Mecca for "developers" who never really intend building stuff.

To be fair though Manchester is quite possibly the ugliest city in England, horendous looking place, the Liverpool waterfront is recognised the world over.

What do manchester really approve too? More flats that nobody can afford usually.

Liverpool should be doing stuff like subsiding business premises to try and attract startups, all it does is build student flats and apart hotels that are slowly turning the place into Blackpool on steds. There's seemingly zero vision in the council's strategic plans for the city's future beyond the tourist and student dollar, both of which will be in short supply in the next year or two I suspect.
