That was me after the 77 Cup final. (Except my Dad was a United supporter in those days! He ended up hating Ferguson and is now a neutral.)  

Istanbul still hasn't sunk in yet. I don't think it ever will. We expected to beat Spurs, a defeat would have been catastrophic. We shouldn't have had a chance against Milan. It still gives me goosebumps but like thinking about the enormity of space, I just can't think too much about it. It's too surreal. Too brilliant. Too unbelievable, to this day. 

As owners, I don't have a huge issue with them. They appointed Klopp and we've won the league and the European Cup, and with a bit of luck we could have doubled up on both. By accident or design, they've kept the 'old' Anfield too, which is a major plus in my book.   Outside of fairy tales, the only likely upgrade in terms of resources available would be a Manchester City-style takeover and the various issues that go with that. No thanks.    Still, it's foolish in the extreme that they haven't addressed the centre-half issue in this window. It didn't have to cost a fortune if we're really holding out for our first target in the summer, even a Klavan-level signing would have given us a vastly better chance of competing for the title.
