So after finishing S3 of the Wire my download of S4 was being shit so I decided to watch the first two episodes of GoT.

I've just read the first book and really enjoyed it, it's got me hooked and I've the next two lined up and ready to go. The missus is now keen to watch the first season, can anyone tell me if it's likely to give much away from the later books or does it stick to the first one?

First series pretty much covers book 1. I think a couple of scenes may have been brought forward from start of book 2 but these were minor things nothing to be concerned about spoiler wise. I read 1st book, watched 1st series, read 2nd book, watched 2nd series and then read 3rd book. Don't recall anything being spoiled for me.

the speed with which the series is telling the story makes me wonder if Martin will finish his books quicker by being under a bit more pressure. I think it's safe to assume that Jon snow is probably rhaegar and Ned's sisters baby so he'll be involved more so I doubt he's really been killed. Isn't there only meant to be two more books he has a lot to wrap up in two books.

Not having Sky Atlantic or HBO, I am a bit behind you chaps & the first series has just finished on Sky 1. No announcement as to when the 2nd series will be airing on Sky 1, does anybody have any idea when it will be ?

I usually avoid fantasy, but this is excellent tv. I was hooked from the first episode. Great story, costumes, locations and effects. Tyrion Lannister is one of my favourite characters ever, almost up there with Omar.

It doesn't compare with the Sopranos or the Wire, but neither does anything else on tv. It's still bloody good entertainment though.

Am halfway through Series 2 and can't wait for Series 3. I may yet break a longstanding rule and read the books.

I've just this morning finished reading part 1 of A Dance With Dragons, the series just keeps getting better and better.

 

I also picked up Series 1 of the TV show on DVD over the weekend, so will be giving it a go once we've cleared the current backlog.

I was like that when I was reading the books which are excellent reads.

 

I have only seen but I am looking forward to seeing what the rest of the series are like compared to the books. I also hope this means the author get his acts together and get the next 2 or 3 book out quick smart.

 

Martin has apparently told the producers of the show how the series will end in case he dies so I hope they don't over take the books to spoil the ending.

I'm really looking forward to Series 3, watching the re-run of Series 2 on Sky with the missus as she didn't see it first time round.

Weird l have just finished part 1 of a dance with dragons they are a great series of books. I do find certain characters such as sansa and danerys annoying at times. I cant wait for the new books though.

I really enjoyed the books - read them all back-to-back lat year and am now waiting for the author to get his arse in gear and finish the series.
