Got a couple of copies of this to give away in a competition. The book is set in Liverpool and the author Paul Kennedy is a big red. He often browses TLW and saw the book threads on here, so he sent me a few copies to give away to forumites. I haven't read it yet as I've only just got them, but DT has read it and loved it.

I'll draw the winners out of a hat, so if you want to be entered into the draw just send a PM to 'TLW'.

I am literate. Just stupid.

EDIT: worked it out. Sorry.

EDIT 2: Oi, RiS Get OUT! There's room in this draw for ONE, pal.

Just finished the book and heres my review .....

This is a really good book, think of Irvine Welsh's books like Trainspotting and it's sequel Porno, but take out the fact you have to sound out some of the sentences to understand what is being said. When you think of its subject matter prostituition, drug abuse...carpets, it paints a particulary grim picture but Paul Kennedy tells the story with such skill and humour the book just whizzes along and before you know it you are at a point where all the protagonists collide for a very satisfying (and in some ways moving)conclusion. I have worked in Liverpool for 25 years and know the city very well so it was easy for me to picture certain set pieces however as the main character is from Texas it gives you a very good otsiders perspective of the city. The fact that is based on true stories makes the story more poignant as well and I can easily see this being made into a film. A great read, I would encourage you to read this book and look forward to Paul Kennedy's next book as he has set a high marker.
