I'm struggling to think of many clubs that clearly teach/tell their players to do it though. What other explanation is there for having so many players that dive and simulate injury on a regular basis? Especially when they weren't like that before they signed for them.

There is no explanation, because it doesnt happen. The only time that both sides go around diving and acting the cunt is when they play each other. This happens because its a derby game and they both wind each up other.

I'd say it happens far more often then just that game, more or less weekly. But it definitely goes up to eleven when they meet.

I liked Arbeloa too. He was also decent stand in centre back,though seldom needed and was very versatile. Meaning hes been better in about four positions than most who've been signed since.
