I vote Labour these days simply because they're less cunty than the Tories, and that's a pretty tragic reason to vote for anyone really.

Which is how many now view politicians, whoever you vote for they'll renegue on promises and lie through their teeth about taxes. If the coalition is a taste of PR then there's no real change - they just call their broken promises 'compromise'.

To be honest I'm not one of the 'they're all cunts' brigade. I don't really think along the lines of they're all the same or they all break promises, no doubt a few do, but that's not the issue for me, the issue for me is the lack of ideas and excitement - and the fact Westminster exists in a bubble and its ranks are swelled by people who are all pretty wealthy, from similar backgrounds and have a similar education under their belt. You might as well replace everyone on the Commons' benches with Agent Smith.

I'd love it if politics was opened up to ordinary people, with people who are full of ideas arguing passionately about what works and what doesn't, with academics postulating ideas and people being eager to try them out. But it's nothing like that unfortunately, politics is almost like middle management in a corporation - with the people at the very top - the board - being big business and other vested interest groups.
