Got her a picture of the two of us at an open air play last summer and put it in a nice frame (shout out to Rapey for the idea). She promptly burst into tears but a million brownie points for me.

Great minds think alike, Jenson.

Just farted in my wife’s face and she promptly burst into tears. Brown pants for me.

I'm challenging my thoughts on the subject...

...for those who do something for Valentine's, do you get something from your 'other half' and if you don't, is that ok or do you wish you got something too?

I can see that I'm reaching a conclusion already, that you can do what you want with it.

I might whine about the commercialisation of it all, but it's got some way to beat Christmas and I happily go along with that

Anyone?

I'm going home to watch big strong men smash each other around the rink with plenty of pucking action. Looking forward to some top stick handling and hoping noone gets their helmet knocked off.

I'll also be watching some ice hockey. Happy Valentine's Day!

I'm in total agreement with those who don't follow Valentines day whilst completely contradicting that by spoiling my missus as I enjoy it. I genuinely don't care that she didn't get me anything, I explicitly told her not to in fact. If she had got me something back I'm sure I'd have enjoyed and appreciated it but it has absolutely nothing to do with buying her stuff or cooking or whatever in the first place.

I think deep down, even if they say they don't, girls want a VDay present just to get the sense their partner cares. Hence, I have done it when I've been in a relationship because there would've been no point in me being with this girl if I didn't care about the relationship. I look at it that way. Also, I never got something big. Just something that had a meaning to us.

You have to be in a relationship though. One time in my first year of college I got a girl something I had been seeing for like 2 months and she was also seeing other people. I could tell she thought I was a weirdo. Will absolutely never do that again.

I get, nor expect or want, a card or present. It's her cup final though so I'm happy to do something nice for her.

Thanks for your replies. Why is nothing straightforward (in my head at least)

And if I'm really honest, 3 Stacks is probably right and I would like just a tiny acknowledgement but he's always made it quite clear his feelings on the subject and so I've known that it's not going to happen so have hardened myself against the whole thing.

That said, if we were to do Valentine's I'd definitely see it as a 2 way thing, unless he gets another day...

...and that's where March 13 comes in, eh, lads?

What happens on March 13?

I got her some flowers which she's mad for. Have never understood the whole flower thing... they're nice enough but they do turn some women mad.

I didn't get or expect anything in return but if she's happy then I'm happy

Jeez, Matty, how long have you been around this place?

Steak and a suck day, innit?
