That's the sort of play you do when you wanted to injure the other guy.

Doesn't really matter. I nearly had my leg smashed in bits by some prick who went in both feet off the ground to a challenge he was never winning. "I was going for the ball to be fair" he said, which was scant consolation. If you launch into a challenge like that you'll win the ball in some and you won't in others, but if you miss and get the other person's leg you can do some damage. I've now got a permanently dodgy ankle and to be honest I can understand why Diaby was fucked off. Barton goes in with both feet off the ground and slides right through him. It is nowhere near the worst challenge you'll see but would be well capable of putting the lad out for a few months if his leg got caught in the ground.

Poor tackle by Barton. To only win the ball but not injure a player in a fair tackle is pretty poor tbh. Graeme Souness would have snapped his leg as well.
