Petition to reinstate Rafael Benitez as LFC Manager

But that's what I don't get.

Just because Hodgson is doing a poor job, doesn't mean Rafa wasn't wrongly sacked - in my opinion.

It just means that Hodgson was the wrong appointment.

True, but when a poll is loaded as "would you have Rafa back or not" it forces votes in only two directions. Black and white when there are also shades of grey.

Anyway I'm not arsed, I didn't want him to go, certainly didn't want Hodgson as manager and I'd have Rafa back tomorrow but I've seen nothing to suggest that it's going to happen.

I grew up in Kirkdale when the city was on the bones of its arse. I was 16 in 1977, and by the time I left full time education there was absolutely fuck all. I was a die hard socialist, and I still am a socialist, but I've seen a lot of the world since then, and I understand that emotions can be manipulated by individuals who don't necessarily have the best interest of the collective at heart. Liverpool is full of emotion, and as such it is susceptible to (and often played by) ne'er-do-wells, whether it's football or politics. The chippy attitude towards the rest of the country really is self-defeating. It's certainly a contributing factor as to why Liverpool is years behind the other big cities in the country in terms of it's commercial development. The whole country is being kicked in the balls hard at the moment. Affluent areas are seeing shops boarded up, or turning into charity shops. I don't know any southern county that has had their public service budgets increased. I suspect that's just a divisive myth, just like the myth that suggests Hodgson was a media appointment.

Hahaha,

The Delly mob one

I put my finger in my japs eye and try and turn it inside out, Chip posts next! I insert my fist into my bumhole and pull out with the force of a plane on a treadmill. I have prolapsed. Yeah, that's whats got to be considered in the future, we have to keep Comolli happy, that above all is most important, FFS.

So what your saying is that in your mind Comolli is on a par with Benitez and deserves the same respect, sorry don't remember Comoli providing me with the best night I've ever had as a supporter, don't remember Comolli fighting for us against the yanks, don't remember Commoli donating to Hillsborough nor Reece Jones.

Could go on but fuck your Comolli.

See, this is part of the problem. Some of us can remember the days long before Rafa, when we were really rather good. I'm old enough to have actually seen us win league titles ('Division 1' it was called back then). I can vividly remember such seminal moments as the 84 European Cup Final and doing the Shite at Wembley in 86.

I suspect a lot of the 'Rafa Internet Cult' were just coming of age when we won in Istanbul and will forever associate Rafa with the feelings of euphoria we all felt after that amazing night. However older and (possibly) wiser heads realise that as the years went on Rafa took his eye off the real objective and became embroiled (whether through choice or circumstance) in matters that really didn't concern him. In the end he had to go; the timing may, or may not, have been ideal and certainly his replacement was less than satisfactory, but the end was inevitable.

Rafa returning would be a backward and divisive step. We need a young(ish) hungry manager to take us forward - who that might be remains to be seen. It would deffo be better for us all if we turned our attentions towards that issue instead of constantly bickering about a ship that sailed long ago.

great post. sums up my feelings exactly. we are better than the short term success Rafa gave us and the shite we are being served up now. we need to start over and rebuild. if that does not include gerrard and torres then so be it.

That's spot on in my book. I will hold Rafa in high regard for Istanbul and the good times we had under him but it would be a backwards step. I think that had we not appointed Hodgson and gone with say Pellegrini this wouldn't even be an issue. Part of me wonders if it's more to do with dissatisfaction with the current manager and not a burning desire to see an old one.

Benitez's time here ended last summer. In fairness, it probably ended earlier than that. We need a new feller in, one who will fight for the club like Rafa did but also who will do the job properly and not get embroiled in matters that don't concern him. Rafa made some shocking decisions and signings (and attempted signings- Gareth Barry, anyone? No thanks) towards the end and so I wouldn't like to see him back.

He had his time, and there were highs and lows. But it's done now and people need to move on.

Only a retard would realize that Rafa Benitez CANNOT work within the desired NESV method of operation.

Valencia: Problem with board -- Sacked

Liverpool: Problem with board, restructured, further problems with board/owners -- Sacked

Inter Milan: Problem with board -- Sacked

Gee... Can anyone else guess what happens at the next club?

This is ALL independent of the football/transfers/netspend/whatever arguments where both sides DO NOT budge from their positions. How can you refute this? The man cannot work with others.
