Statement from The Kopfaithful

After the takeover and initial discussions with the new owners of LFC, the Kopfaithful would like to say as a group, we will be going into hibernation.

We have not taken this decision lightly, but feel there is no real purpose for the group at the moment. When the group initially came together, it was to be purely a one issue action group to help rid our club of the owners we had at the time and to hope the UK based members board of LFC could deliver us fit and proper owners.

While only the long term actions of the new owners will speak for their suitability, we remain cautiously optimistic that the club has indeed turned the corner on the ownership issue. However, we feel FSG need to be given time and space to get on with their job of turning around our club, rather than be subject to a number of Q&A sessions, which will do little more than give lazy journalists cheap headlines.

This doesn't mean we have gone away and it doesn't mean we or the thousands of people who helped us with our campaign should stop watching our new owners. We're here and we're less gullible after our experiences over the last 3 years and we will be watching their actions. We'd like to think after our initial contact with NESV/FSG, that should we have any major concerns about the direction of the club, their door would continue to be open should we wish to have our voice heard. We have proved over the past months, when we want, we can swiftly and publicly make our voice heard, if it's wanted or not.

We want to have a club we can be proud of and that includes our owners. We all need to pull together and go in the same direction – owners and fans. In terms of publicly holding the owners to account and to drive through many of the issues we feel are important surrounding our club and fans, there are other organisations such as the Spirit of Shankly who's agenda is more suited to this continued public dialogue with the football club and we feel we can add little to that dialogue.

So we'd like to think this would be the last time you will hear from the Kopfaithful – it could be said we have unilaterally disarmed our keyboards to begin a peace process with our club and get back to enjoying watching our team. We'd like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has helped support our cause and get us to the place where we are today.

Thanks lads. Monumental work done by an intelligent bunch of people who only ever had, and still have, the best interests of Liverpool Football Club at heart.

Says it all.
