A lot of people protesting by voting no but it's still only 5%. Can't say I agree with the project on this but don't care too much, they say they are willing to listen, doesn't mean they have to sack him but at least can hear us take our thoughts on board. They will have to sack him though sooner or later anyway people are doing this mainly due to fear of losing our best prospect and so on and I can understand it but I also understnad the other side of the coin the danger of precedents etc. Hard one but I voted yes on this.

Mentioned this elsewhere, if they listen to us and get rid on that basis, what next ? When does it stop ?

Im not comfortable with it one bit.

Browser crashed when I tried to post my comments, maybe there's a message there for me. Anyway it's for the best because it was far too long, also I hadn't read the third page and didn't know this idea had been fucked off. I'll just stick the last few paragraphs up though because regardless of whether this particular poll is dead, the issue isn't going to go away.

I can understand the fact that some people have had enough. I try not to come on here slating the manager but for the sake of clarity, I've had enough as well. I want Roy to succeed, hell I want all of our managers to succeed, but I don't think he's going to and I'd shed no tears at all if I woke up tomorrow and found out he'd gone. I think his departure is inevitable and right now, his tenure is like watching a couple who know their marriage is dead and holds only bitterness and pain for both of them but neither will instigate the divorce.

I can also understand the reaction to it. We're used to acting and getting results now - we took on the owners and won, saw them humiliated in the courts twice and ran out of town, so why the hell shouldn't we do the same to Roy?

I've been asking myself that question whilst I was typing this. I knew it felt wrong, that's why I started but I hadn't really thought about why, or about how I was going to try to articulate it. Thankfully, I've just realised that a far greater man than me already did it:

At a football club, there's a holy trinity - the players, the manager and the supporters. Directors don't come into it. They are only there to sign the cheques.

That's why I had no problem with acting against Hicks and Gillett but won't participate in any attempt to get Hodgson removed. He's more Souness than Shankly, that's for sure but he's still inside that trinity. When they were here, Hicks and Gillett couldn't even fulfill their part of the deal and sign the fucking cheques unless they were for expenses, they were mere observers of this club and only improved it by their departure. Ultimately that might also be true of Hodgson but in my opinion, attempting to employ the methods that were used against the owners in order to oust him is not the right thing to do.

To each of you - if you personally feel strongly enough about Hodgson leaving that you want to actively demand it from the club then so be it, it's not for me to tell you what to think, but don't express that by spending one second of your time clicking a button to vote in a fucking poll. If you really feel so strongly that you want him out; if you feel that as a Red, your pride in your club and what it stands for actually demands the club get rid of him, sit down at your PC, open your e-mail and write a personal message to the club. No twittering or any of that shite either, write an actual e-mail expressing your opinion.

I'm suggesting that for two reasons. The first one is that my days as an internet terrorist suggest that it's a very effective strategy. The second is that if your depth of feeling about the issue isn't sufficiently strong for you to bother your arse spending five minutes on an e-mail, you should really ask yourself what the fuck you're doing before clicking that button.

He's got to go.

We all know that he's out of his depth at a big club. Fine for Fulham but nowhere near Liverpool standard.

What's the point in sacrificing this season by keeping him on until the summer? He's been a disaster and things won't get any better by letting him hang around so the club can say they gave him a fair crack of the whip.

Sorry, not prepared to put up with turgid football every week until May. Go now Roy and take Poulsen, Jones & Konchesky with you.

To be honest I can see West Ham get a point or all 3 against us in our next game Avram does alright against us normally and they are due a win and Gerrard might not play or be fully fit if he does I'm hoping it might force the ald hand if it happens.

Would rep you there Robbo, but I unfortunately can't at the moment. Especially that last paragraph.

Could buy the surplus from the ART, wouldn't even need to change the stitching.

I can't remember the orchestrated poll to send to Hicks and Gillett ordering them to fire Rafa.

Nor can I remember any forum orchestrating Rafa out chants.

There's a difference, you know there's a difference.

Nice quip though.

This is the type of stuff that we take the piss out of Real Madrid for, yet here we are, a group of our fans actively trying to make the clubs decisions for them.

An absolute joke.

Wasn't aware of taking the piss out of Real Madrid because of anything like this.

People take the piss because they fire managers who win the league, or get 96 points etc

Which isn't even close to being the same thing.

I've been posting on here for about 10 years mate - trust me, over the years, Real Madrid (amongst other clubs) have been totally ridiculed because their fans try to make the decisions for the club.

Any set of fans who try to intervene on footballing decisions, are small time. Having the opinion that someone isn't up to the job and expressing it, is totally fair, but trying to do something about it, either by sending letters or chanting names etc is totally fucking small time.

I'm sure you agree with that.

I disagree mate, people have the right to let their feelings be known and it's been going on since time immerioal. I remember someone writing 'play your strongest team' at melwood for example and people wrote letters years before Houlier or Benitez's time was up, thousands I'll bet.

The owners can ignore it or reply in kind but their is a strength of feeling that is not just a few or even half our support but probably about 90%, if Roy is still here in 5 years and we are still as bad then or if he leads us say to the conference I'll bet you'll not talk such shite then you'll be writing letters and organising email campaigns then wouldn't you? Some have a bit of foresight on these issues though and if I don't want to get involved fine but I'm not going to piss ont heir chips either. Perhpas you should bear it in mind.

I've been reading on another site that some fans are arranging to sing 'Dalglish' or 'Hodgson for England' during the game on Saturday. Arranging those kind of things doesn't sit right with me, although I can see it getting much worse.

I'm afraid we're going to have to endure a lot more shite until he goes, then maybe we can get behind a new manager and the team. That's the dream anyway.

Best fans in the world, eh?!

I didn't vote but I'd only vote Yes if the man FSG want was available. Otherwise, I'd vote no as there is little point giving it to another 'stop gap' with the current crop of players.

The next LFC appointment is the most important ever and the next two transfer windows can't come quick enough.

We should make this the definitive poll list thread for everything that is discussed here ad nauseum:

Should Roy be sacked? - Yes

Should Carragher be dropped from the team occasionally? Yes

Should Pacheco be on the bench for our league games? Yes

Do you care what happens to Rafa at Inter? No

Do you want Rafa back? No

Should Meireles be played on the wing? No

Should Shelvey be played on the wing? No

Should Johnson be fucked off for criticizing the manager? No

Should Gerrard be playing on the right? Yes

Will we get in the top 6 with Roy? No

Is Lucas deserving of a place in the side? Yes

Will Spearing make it here? No

Is Rafa one of the five best managers in the world? No.

Is Nigella Lawson fuckable? Yes

Is the Moneyball model a good fit for our club? Yes

Should Kenny be the next manager? No

Should Aquilani have been loaned out this year? No

Is Harry Potter the most overrated phenomenon that has ever existed? Yes

66% | C

and Nigella Lawson would get every inch available.

You reckon a manager (stop gap one) with a set of bollocks couldn't get more out of this group of players?

I'm sure you agree with that.

Its a completely different situation to us. I mean, they are fan owned. Not that it really suggests they're some organic paragon of utopia.

I'm not sure the situation is quite as black and white as possibly you've made out. There isn't really a right answer, because the question is never the same.

I'll agree that sending letters is utterly pathetic.

All of these things are avoided if correct and swift decisions are made at board level.

Roy Hodgson should have already been fired.

"Hello there. I'm Professor Richard Dawkins. N'yak n'yak.

Now, you probably know me as that man off the telly who takes such great pleasure in informing you that you're going to die alone in a godless universe.

Who knows? Perhaps you've recently lost a child and whilst you were doubled over in grief, I removed the last vestige of hope that one day you'd meet them again and spend all eternity together in a peaceful eternal paradise.

Anyway, whatever.

Now I'm here today to harangue you in my nasal monotone about campaigning to email Mr J W Henry.

It 's a divisive subject, I know.

If you join a campaign to email him, then some fans will say, "you're a disgrace and you're making us look like Spurs fans".

While others will take the opposite tack and say, "you're a disgrace and you're making us look like Newcastle fans."

Personally I think you're a mix of the two, the 'sp' and the 'toon'. If you've joined one then you're a 'sp'-'oon'.

Yes. If you've joined one at any time, you're a fucking spoon.

Now, for the less cognitively powered amongst us, the ridiculous need for a surrogate father to love and cherish our football club can take on many psychological forms and I don't want to say that getting together with other boneheads and starting a campaign to send emails to Mr Henry is a manifestation of some deep rooted pathological flaw.

But it is. It definitely is.

So remember, the internet is not just for downloading truly horrifying pornography. It's also there to ensure our new owner receives a tidal wave of poorly thought through unsolicited shite in his inbox each and every morning.

Because, hey, who wouldn't enjoy that?

Thanks for listening and I'll leave you now with the reminder that your entire existence is pointless and has no meaning except that which you're foolish enough to impose upon it.

N'yak, n'yak."

Agreed. When does it come to a point that it stops ?

Are all fans going to agree with all decisions made by the club ? no.

If so, does that excuse mass email bombardment to that effect ?

No.

If you disagree with the board though, you disagree. Sending letters into the ECHO, going onto phone-ins etc is fine. You're giving your opinion about something you really care about.

Sending letters to the owners and bombarding them via other social media sources and singing for other managers at the match, however, is fucking small time.

It's the type of stuff we ridicule other clubs for, and rightly so.

I agree with you on this one (setting the Madrid issue aside, which I know nothing about).

Campaigns, campaigns, fucking campaigns. It was worth it to get the owners out, a lot of admirable work done by a lot of good reds. It is worrying that the militant streak seems hard for some to drop. If we campaign to get the manager out, what next? A campaign to change the pre-match bar menu? An online poll for premium seating ala Odeon on the Kop?

I think we were right to mobilize when our club was being so grossly mismanaged, but we're running the risk here of wars for the sake of wars. Even if we privately dislike Hodgson we need to stay (predominantly) quiet in public, otherwise we're just writing the journalists stories for them and we look like a bunch of cunts.

I second tooth on Squabblefest's post by the way, great stuff. Need to pay for an account so I can start weighing in with some rep on these occasions.

Just playing devil's advocate for a moment, but I think that people who are campaigning here sorta see this as the last remaining battle to fight to completely exorcise the old regime.

Hodgson has been left as their legacy, like it or not, and while that's no direct fault of his (though he should've known what he was walking into), many see him as the last piece before the sun can rise on hope anew.

It's been exacerbated by the fact that Hodgson grossly underestimated the size of the club and its expectations and as I read somewhere else tonight, he's a man who '...only open's his mouth to change feet.'

I'm in agreement. Its just different with Real Madrid, they're fan owned. If I'm a socio of Real Madrid then I'm going to use my influence as I see fit, but its not going to be in the ridiculous manner seen by a few of our fans.

More than anything else, the letters, and fucking about on twatter, is simply a waste of time. These are businessman, they're not going to make a decision because a couple of bellwhiffs have written a fucking poem.

I'm pretty sure NESV are well aware that the vast majority of Liverpool fans want Hodgson out. But they have an important decision, they have to get the next appointment right.
