Time to leave the depressing talk of Msr Houllier for a while I think. Seems that every thread is saying the same thing at the moment so how about this:

 

Thank fvck that MOTD is back next season! I've had enough of ITV's so-called experts commenting on what they know very little about!

 

Who is Andy Towsend to comment on the perils of a championship race?

 

What has Robbie Earle done in his career that qualifies him to advise Fergie/Wenger/Ranieri on how to win the Premier league?

 

Big Ron......don't even go there!

 

...and don't get me started on that bloke who presents Monday night's programme. Never have I been so bored watching football!

 

Can't wait to hear the theme tune again, Beautiful Day was a shit song from the start anyway!

Agree with everything above. What the fuck are those little montages of the goals and crucial moments after each ad break, that are set to rock music. It eats into the time available to show each game, and we're about to see them again in the 'expert' analysis anyway.

 

MOTD will be welcomed back with open arms. The format hasn't changed for ages, simply because it works.

Match of the Day, class, The Premiership, shite. No adverts, more highlights, Jocky Hansen, Lineker's ears, Lawro the Manc, better theme tune, Garth Crooks head, no Big Ron talking shite, better Goal of the Month Competition, no Clive Tyldesley, no smarmy Des, can't wait.

Seriously MOTD shits all over the ITV version.

 

I know Motson and Davies can be dick heads (i think Motty's past it) but you can watch the games with the sound down.

 

Where the Beeb come into their own is the analysis. it's streets ahead - in that they have some and ITV don't. I've started watching Goals on Sunday because ITV do not pick up the important events in a game with view to giving a definitive answer and they have Kamara on it FFS.

Motson is entering the advanced stages of dementia.

 

However, I like Barry Davies. Enjoyed his commentary during the 2001 UEFA Cup run.

 

Don't like Schmeichel (and not just cos he played for MU). Lawro and Hansen are class. I also say get Jimmy Hill back.

 

The worst thing about ITV has to be the commentators:

 

Drury- his voice is annoying as fuck.

Champion- his commentary when we lost at home to Soton in Dec was terrible. He almost wet himself when they scored in the 1st minute and spent the rest of the game going on about GH's position and the decline of this once great club.

Tyldesley- 'that glorious night in Barcelona'.

 

Bring back Tony Gubba and Gerald 'porno king' Sindtadt.

U2? A bag of shite bikers pub-band. EVERY SINGLE TUNE they have ever made is a "name-that-tune in ONE". More originality from the Tweenies. Bono? Fvcking "Bone-on" more like. Warracock.

The analysis on The Premiership is so poor that I don't bother with the Saturday night one; I just watch the "action only" version on a Sunday morning (early Sunday mornings - the price of parenthood!). I can't wait for MOTD to return.

I remember the first ever tactics truck and it was with Jari the mullet!

That fella on Monday nights is Matt Smith and he is a Liverpool fan. He doesn't bother me that much to be honest - there's plenty of other weapons to be worrying about.

 

Gotta disagree with whoever said they enjoyed Barry Davies' commentary in 2001 during our Uefa Cup run. I've never known a commentary team to be so unpatriotic in my life.
