Yeah, finishing 2nd with a squad that was 5th in terms of value and wages.

The English league 'beat him', ok.

So he finished 7th with a squad that was valued 5th? He's gone and not coming back. That undying support you show for him and disturbingly his club would be better focused on LFC.

I would have a number of the players he sold back, but I wouldn't have him back.

Arbeloa - take back the guy he paid 18m to downgrade on

Bellamy

Crouch

Alonso

Hyypia

Is there actually anymore then that? Tbf they all wanted to go and there was fuck all he could do about. Poor transfer decisions from 07 onwards cost him his job and desevedly so.

Last I'm saying in this thread or any other thread pining for him. The people still crying for him remind me of those that split with a girl and still go back for more hurt, just trying to get the early good days back. Newsflash it doesn't happen it's turned to shit and she's now fucking someone else.

I'd take him back like a shot if we ever get back to a stable environment with decent financial backing so he can focus on the game not the politics.

He can't do that. He has to have total control and be doing everybody else's job.

Not just at Anfield, everywhere he's been.

If Rafa could make a poor Liverpool team into regular champions league entrents and without him those same players turn into relagation possibles then that tells you all you need to know about the mans ability given the right backing Rafa would have won us the title and im not talking Man City style spending just spending the cash the team made instead of blowing it on debt repayments as was / is the case had he had that cash available to him to spend then he could have brought in the player he really wanted instead of 2nd 3rd or 4th name on the list as was the case

but should we go back heart says yes head says no time to move on and take the best young manager available as we did with Rafa

Agree with all that but is there a "best young manager" like Rafa was out there?

There are good managers out there but how many could adapt (if needed) their style to suit the PL and the players in it.

I think Rafa got a better grasp of it then many a manager that has come over here. Couple this with his ability to make Europes best look very average and he was a brilliant combination, his weakness being a complete control freak, but when was that any harm to the likes of Bacon Face or Clough?

Sorry people but men of that ilk are as rare as rocking horse shit.

Unlucky for him he turned up just as we aquired the worse owners in living memory and rather than just "doing his job" he took them on and lost focus.

He'll win a few leagues with Inter, the Champions League (beating Real Madrid), he'll mention us when being interviewed and he'll be back here in under 5 years. You can take that to the bank!

....his weakness being a complete control freak, but when was that any harm to the likes of Bacon Face or Clough?

That is another lie put out about him by those who had no genuine footballing reasons to attack him.

He complained about the inefficient transfer system whereby we were losing all the best prospects because of Parry's slowness.

It was Hicks who got rid of Parry, not Rafa.

Rafa waited four years before until Heighway retired before he asked that the Academy be integrated with the first team as it is in most major clubs. He also encouraged and approved the appointment of first class youth directors and reserve team manager. He proposed the appointment of Kenny Dalgish (and then recommended that he be manager).

These were not the actions of a control freak but of someone responding intelligently to the situation he had been asked to manage.

Following all the instability and broken promises he also hesitated about a new contract until the owners gave him assurances that he would be in charge of footballing matters. Of course they and Purslow broke that promise, too.

Rafa is at Inter now where the President describes him just as prepared and hard-working and focussed as Mourinho, but much more affable and easy to get on with. He is someone who does not pester him for new players like Mourinho did. At Inter there is a strong President and a strong director of football who decides the transfers. Rafa has made clear many times that he understands his role is to be the coach not the manager in charge of transfers, and he has repeatedly said that he will build on the club's traditions and respect all the good work of manager's and players before him.

Its silly to control him a control freak - the facts say otherwise.
