The sale of the club would be a perfect time to change the manager, giving everyone a way out without losing face. Hodgson could say, quite correctly, that he was let go because the new owners wanted to bring their own man in, not because of failure. The new owners would be able to thank Hodgson and create massive goodwill amongst the fans by appointing a younger, fresher face with a philosophy based on attacking football.

This season is pretty much down the drain already, why not give the supporters something to enjoy...

Yes, they were all queueing up to take the job before the season so I assume it'll be the same if he's sacked, NOT.

It's not like we exactly missed out on anyone either though. Our options were limited because Purslow wanted someone British.

Feel some sympathy for Roy here. Decent bloke, way out of his depth. So I hope the new owners, if they get control of the club, don't waste any time in appointing their own man.

Pellegrini makes the most sense. Not least because he's actually not in a job at the moment.

I like this. New Owners, New Manager, Attacking Football. But reality hits and statements coming out from the club like Roy is the right man for the job, makes me shudder inside..

Hodgson has been pretty clear that he has no intention of changing his established tactical approach to the game, and has even shifted blame onto the players to defend his style of football.. So the question is not whether he will change, it is whether his approach coupled with investment can turn things around.

If we're going to move forward into this exciting future broughton refers to, I really dont think Roy is the man. Staff appointments as much as squad investment are a symbol of the club's ambitions, and if these new americans are sincere about a winning philosophy then i suspect its only a matter of time...

No disrespect to Hodgson, but he isnt a winner at the very top level. I hope he can go with dignity and thanks for taking on a difficult job at an impossible time, and this early shambles fade swiftly from everyone's memory.

Oh, and can we plase stop talking about O'Neill? He is no more a Liverpool manager than Hodgson is. One thing I do NOT want to see is the shit of the last seven games of football moved into another pile.

If we're going to change, we need to change for the better and for the future.

Seeing as there's a potential few weeks before they confirm ownership - courts etc, it would be a bit soft if they tried to bin the manager before they re confirmed as owners - yer don't decorate a new house before the mortgage is in the sellers bank account.

They have to give the kiss of death to keep things relatively stable at least until they are in a position to make any changes at the club, and who knows what way the changes may go, they may want the new chairman in place first and actively involved in the decision making process of the next manager.

Sad state of affairs really.

Really was on a hiding to nothing

Not with me he wasn't. He's done himself no favours though, has he? If there was a single positive that we could point to in defense of his reign so far then it wouldn't be so easy to say that we need someone better. I think it's fair enough to suggest that someone gets time to implement their style and philosophy, but do we really want Roy's style and philosophy based on what we've seen so far? Can we trust him to spend what money we might have wisely? If he goes he can't really blame anyone else, let's be honest.

Hiddink or Kenny

The thing with Hiddink is, he's a bit too old. We should be looking at someone who is a bit younger who will be hungry for success and will be here long term. I was thinking someone like Unai Emery or Quique Sanchez Flores. Both very good managers who are young. We need to build for the future.

Hiddink or Kenny

I'd like to see Dalglish stay in the current role he has with Hiddink coming to manage the team.

Didn't he say he wouldn't come while we had the current owners? Now if they go, maybe he could be persuaded.
