I will continue to neg anyone who refers to our manager as 'Woy.' His tactics aren't working out for us and we're playing like dog shit and hopefully both of those things will change and soon, but show some fucking respect for the man, he's the manager of Liverpool Football Club.

Oh, and Tom's bang on to be fair. As for him winning the pen and the free kick, who's to say any other player wouldn't have won those had they been on isntead of Torres. I'm not suggesting we get rid but he needs to pull his finger out and shut up whingeing. And dye his hair.

I think he will come good. Games, confidence and better service from the likes of Cole, Gerrard and Merieles once they all click - and he will be back to the Torres we all know!

We could do this for every player.

Can you stop fucking around with your fucking hair and put more concentration in your fucking defending. If you did, you wouldn't have been continually fleeced by a 79 year old Welsh git today.

I'm just not buying this "he's not 100% fit" line.

Fitness has fuck all to do with putting in effort, chasing down balls or generally just looking like you actually give a flying fuck.

I love the lad like the next guy, but his attitude fucking stinks at the moment and that has diddly shit to do with any injury he had fucking months ago.

If anyone else was strolling about the place and not putting in a shift then they'd be getting absolutely battered for it.

Well Fernando Torres is no special case. He has a hell of a long way to go before he gets that kind of slack thrown his way.

Stop being a whingy little prick and start putting some fucking effort in.

Your attitude right now, quite frankly, fucking stinks and we deserve better.

You're not immune from critcism, and you're DEFINITELY not immune from giving anything less than 100% in every single game.

Stop fucking crying it in at everyone and everything else, and maybe take a good, long hard look at yourself.

never thought I'd say this, but I'm genuinely pissed off with his attitude so far this season, and long spells of last as well tbh. There's talk of him possibly fucking off this summer. Well, if he continues with the shite he's put in so far this season, I'll help him fucking pack myself.

Totally agree with every word, it was the same for parts of last season. Looks like he doesn't want to be here any more.

And to those of you going on about how poor this and that other player is, please read the post again. Not one word mentioned about lack of ability, only lack of attitude. Which if you ask me is far worse.

The problem is, we all know he has the talent & when on form is a million times better than anyone else at the club, but we can't wait 4eva for torres to decide when he can be bothered & when he can't be arsed, as he stinks the place out

I wish he'd dye his hair again. It'd be a start.

Indeed, ever since he cut his hair short and gone brown, his changed.

I'd be pissed if the manager was trying to turn me into Bobby Zamora too.

Which tactically is exactly what is happening. Deep, long balls to an isolated Torres surrounded by an entire back opposition back 4 because no-one else is far enough forward for them to have to worry about.

That is not how you get the best out of Torres. Torres knows this, he's not one for holding up the ball for 1/2 an hour until support arrives, he's one for taking advantage of space created by his (now non-existent) fellow forwards. How long will he be happy playing in a system that fails to take advantage of his strengths? How long will he be happy having his own fans questioning his commitment because of someone else's tactical short-comings?

Not very long I should imagine.

I thought today there was not much chasing of long balls - in fact Torres often was not the furthest player forward. I hear what people say about Torres being left isolated to forlornly chase long balls, apart from the odd exception I just didn't think there was much evidence to support it. In fact rather the opposite. We enjoyed a lot of possession in midfield and knocked it about quite nicely - we didn't show enough penetration and did not get the ball forward quickly.

You're right there wasn't a lot of chasing long balls because we couldn't even get the ball to him most of the time, the gap between our midfield and attack was too large with too many bodies in between. Leaving him isolated. When we did it get it into him it was high, with him expected to hold it up! At least a long ball to chase would suit his strengths. Hence, the plan B of him dropping off into our half and attempting to take on the whole team. I don't mind second strikers dropping off, but your main man?

The only 2 times he was effective was when there were players around him and that only happened when we sacrificed the two banks of 4 because we had nothing to lose.

Its no surprise that as our desperation increases, our banks of 4 dissolve and we actually start looking like a threat.

Anyhow either we need to find a tactical solution or we need to get Xabi to give us a few lessons in how to pass from deep, through two lines of four into a striker who is double-teamed.

He wasn't always good at AM. In fact many - including Ferguson - thought he was not good enough for the PL.

He became great when he played for Rafa who understood how to bring the best out of him. He made him the best CF in the world.

Hodgson doesn't seem to have a clue how to use him so far..

I wasn't happy at Torres for going straight down the tunnel at the end of the game.

I think he's been lied to about ownership, that's why he stayed, and he's pissed off about that.

Never thought I'd say this, great pundity by Shearer.

To the OP, knee-jerk. He's not getting a look in with this system, unfortunately it seems only Rafa could make him prolific. He's never scored bundles of goals for anyone but Rafa.

There was a good thread started by Jose Jones about this topic a while ago, something along the lines that only Rafa has successfully made Torres a prolific goalscorer for club or county in his career so far.

It's early days, and there are obviously concerns about the player's general form and well being, but so far his time under Hodgson has not been productive.

At this stage it's hard to say whether the lack of form/motivation is an issue with Torres, a tactical problem or both.

EDIT: duh, I just read Gary Mac's post.

I'd just like to say that I've met Tom's wife, in The Sainsburys. True story, that. She seems like a lovely lass, and I reckon she'd be pretty pissed off if she thought Tom had an imaginary girlfriend.

    • Van Persie is a great shout. He's probably exactly what the buyer is getting here only 6 times the price.   Van Persie had one good season, they won the league and he scored 26 goals. The following seasons he scored 12 and 10 goals and was sold for £3m.    If money wasn't an object everyone on here would take Kane whether they admit it or not. He's brilliant but he's a crock, Daniel Levy will be delighted with this news but also shitting it he breaks down again before he's sold.
    • It doesn't matter a shite if Man Utd (where Kane will no doubt end up) pay £100m or £150m for him if he does well, which he would as he's a phenomenal goal scorer.  We saw it with people bleating about what we were paying for VVD and Becker only for them to go very quiet very quickly when they realised how good they were.   Kane at Utd would make them title challengers.  He's that good.  Man Utd are a team who rely on good players as their manager wouldn't know a tactic from a tictac. "Just get the ball to Kane in the box" is an easy one and one that'd work with the quality they have.   Also, Man Utd are the devils club and never seem to get bad injuries*   *If someone posts showing key Man Utd players with bad injuries I will ignore it as it doesn't suit my narrative
    • Looking forward to Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher's joint plea for a Liverpool/United protest against the Glazers running the club into the ground when they buy Harry Kane.    Kane to them, Haaland to City, I reckon.    If we were to go big, I think Sancho would be our limit, but we won't do that without selling either.
    • Would be a significant week in Rodgers' career if his side get the three points tonight. I'm not sure how seriously I'd take domestic trophies in Scotland, but an FA Cup win and a second win over Chelsea would show that he's able to compete against the Oil/Petrol clubs. Would be something of a victory for football in that regard.
