I think he's a good player but for the money that will be asked for him, I'd rather we strengthened the wide positions and used Kuyt as back up to Torres. Something like:

Maxi Gerrard Cole Nzogbia

Kuyt

 

I think that has enough pace, power and creativity to work when Torres is injured but then, I'm not entirely sure what it is Hodgson has in mind.
