He did well to get back to Anfield for yesterday evening then, to sit in the stands with Stevie et al. Not impossible he was there, granted, but unlikely.

Yes. I can promise that this is the very last time that I quote a Dutchman on anything. Clog wearing clowns.

Why?

Because right sided midfielders who work hard, never stop running, never give up, do their job defensively as well as in attack, never complain, always put the team first, provides plenty of assists and usually finish the season as one of, if not the, highest scoring players in their position each year are quite hard to find and even harder to replace.

Kuyt isn't very good - at all - and anything over £7m is daylight robbery especially for his age.

Some of the Winston Smithery on this thread has left me flabbergasted.

I am no Kuyt fan but you are talking shit

Interesting bit here

Kuyt was left out of Roy Hodgson's squad for the Europa League clash against Trabzonspor on Thursday night.

It's debatable whether we'd find anyone who would offer us more in terms of goals and assists. I'm sure loads of people will say that we can go and buy a more natural wide player who will change the dynamic of the team, but for the price we're going to receive, and what we're allowed to spend from that, I doubt we could find anyone in that price range who could make such a significant impact.

I really couldn't care about the money, he's a proven player who's worth his weight in gold, he's one of the last players I'd like to see leave, regardless of how old he is or whatever.

He might occasionally show he's lacking technically, but he's a big player with a big game mentality. He scores important goals, sweats blood for the team and is EXACTLY what we've needed over the last few years, someone who will fight while a few players around him look half-arsed.

Sure he might not be a Ronaldo or a Robben, in terms of wide play, but he's an incredibly underrated player and intelligent too.

Personally I'm flabbergasted that people have the gall to label him 'average'. Find me a load of wide players with better goals and assists records in the Premiership in the last few years?

10m isn't a good deal for us.

I'd snatch their hands off if offered £10m...don't believe it for one second though.

Although I would never - could never (!) - criticise Kuyt for his work ethic, passion or commitment, in my opinion he is just fucking woeful in attack.

If I could offer him one simple bit of advice, when one on one with a full back : HAVE A FUCKING GO LAD !

I am absolutely sick and fucking tired of seeing Kuyt pass the ball backwards and sideways, and for a wide-man he creates very little and rarely get's to the byeline.

Kuyt nearly always slows play up, allowing defences to get men behind the ball and reorganise, and his touch is worse than Peter Sutcliffe. We have very little width, and Kuyt is a major reason why.

Give me Maxi on the right, every time.

See this, I really don't understand. Ok, so he's technically better than Dirk, but he scores less goals and sets up less. What's the point? Because he looks easier on the eye? Effectiveness doesn't always have to look pretty.

I don't know whether Remy has moved yet, but if Kuyt does leave then I wouldn't mind going in for him as a pacey right sided attacker who could also double up as a Torres replacement if Nando is rested or injured.

My view on Kuyt is that he is underrated by most, though he is definitely not irreplaceable.

Benitez bought Kuyt as a free scoring £10m (?) striker, proceeds to reinvent the lad as a defensive, holding "wide" player, but all too often, he plays so deep that he is now, effectively a second right back !

To an extent, I feel sorry for the lad - just gives it his all, gets on with it and never complains, but he is never, never the answer at right midfield.

Never in a million fucking years.

Remy signed for Marseille but has heart problems and might have to retire from football (Thuram did anyway)

For goodness knows how many thousands of pounds per week, the least I'd expect is someone who'll run and run and run and run etc, a bit of footballing talent would be a result too. Seriously, when it comes to being incisive, Clint Dempsey would do more.
