Absolutely horrible. I haven’t slept for the last two nights. I fell asleep at 7:30pm last night and woke up at 10pm and it was still about 30C.

I woke up at 1 and had to hang my head out of the window to catch my breath as well as use my inhaler. Was 32 in the house.

Could put this here or in the climate change thread. Quite a concerning thread on Twitter but worth a read. It seems that the wildfires we saw yesterday weren’t just in the South but all over the country and that the fire service was overwhelmed.

The number of people I watched just chuck their lit cigarette butts away, how many of these fires have been caused by such reckless abandonment?

And that's why the push for renewable clean energy won't be as forceful as it should be. It really should be a global man on the moon type effort. Weve all got personal responsibility though and most people can't be arsed or aren't prepared to give up certain things me included.

That's in part because clean, renewable energy isnt reliable enough to completely replace other means. The wind doesnt always blow and turbines in the UK automatically shut down when wind speed is more than about 55mph. The sun is only out for roughly 12 hours a day. We only get 2 tides a day.

Your global man on the Moon comment is spot on though. We only receive a fraction of the sun's energy. We need to build some orbital satellites to form a mini Dyson swarm, collect a few more percent of it and share out the energy.

We've got a south facing roof, ideal for solar panels but I cant afford the cost of having them installed like most, I guess. So the energy would have to be transmitted to houses via existing means ie cable.

That's a government issue -- they are damn near free here.

Some places do grants/interest free loans or install them free of charge do they not do anything like that near you?
