Same here, it was the first time the telly had been on in weeks, and I turned over half way through. Watched it before in HD via the arl' laptop connected to the TV, though. Tremendous.

How many episodes have been on so far?

Is it the same story each week or not?

That was the first episode of a three episode second series. Different story each week. These three are based on the original Conan Doyle Stories 'A Scandal In Bohemia', 'The Hound Of The Baskervilles' and 'The Final Problem'. Or as Moffatt put it, The Woman, The Hound and The Fall.

This somehow escaped my attention first time round, And indeed second, too. So I've managed to track down the first series. Very enjoyable and a fresh new twist on old classic episodes. Bringing it into the modern era is a great idea.

The pace is fairly fast, and Cumberbatch's speed of speech is even faster, especially when running through his stream of deductions, so I had to resort to subs in order to keep up. I have some hearing difficulties, so it was absolutely vital.

Good idea. I really like it when he does his deduction thing but his speech seems to get faster and faster and I dont always catch the last bit so I will give this a try for the next one

And, thanks to Woo's suggestion, have been out and got the cables so that I can now watch the iplayer in stunning 50inches. Result

Just watched Series 1 Episode 1 and it was very, very good.

Only minor problem was the acting of a black girl,is it ok to say that or will i get an 8 day ban? whose acting was terrible. I suspect she might have been in a soap opera of some sort but its just a guess as i dont watch them.

Anyway, brilliant concept of bringing Holmes and Watson into the 21st century and the absence of explosions and special effect type distractions made it work excellently.

Are these episodes modern adaptations of just the characters or the stories too?

The reason I ask is that the title of series#1 ep# was 'Study in Pink' and a famous Holmes adventure is 'A study in Scarlet.'

Hadnt picked up on this for the first series but I'm sure that I heard something like this re the second series and with the 'Study in Pink,' it cant be a coincidence..dont remember the names of the other two...

I am sure the next episode is Hound of the Baskervilles so by the powers of deduction I have answered by own question.
