Sandman is right about the Mount Gay Barbados rum. One of the best. Try Cockspur an all.

Zacapa 23 year old Guatemalen is the greatest rum i have ever tried. Seriously if you like rum bust a gut to get this its a superb sipping rum. It is around £40-50 a bottle mind.

 

Alternatively Ron Barcelo is fantastic too.

Started with a few fruli and Asahi today and moved onto the rum about 3. Lovely bottle of Brugal I brought back from the Dominican. Fantastic stuff, I am now very mellow and sleepy.

cockspur is fucking brutal. as is wrey and nephew.

 

best dark rum for me is captain morgans. most nights out end up with me drinking this stuff, i love it.

All good stuff - from the 3 year old for cocktails to the 7 year old which is excellent.

 

My favourite rum at the moment though is Flor De Cana Nicaraguan rum - the 4 year old gold is like nectar, can't wait to try the 7 year old/ 12 year old.

Yeah got to agree with the shout for Mount Gay, really easy to drink and mellow. Cavalier rum is another good one but you don't see it very often (it's from Antigua).

 

If I drink around town I stick to Havana club especial (the 4 year old, Gold one) as most places don't stock anything better.

 

For anyone feeling a bit skint, Lidl's own gold rum (which is called James Cook) isn't bad at all especially for the money.

Had myself some Mount Gays with ginger ale, lime and ice at the weekend. Outstanding stuff.

 

Tell you what though, try ordering one in a fucking pub, it's like an episode of Knightmare.

Got a liking for the Morgans Spiced Rum after my kids bought it for xmas. Used to drink Bacardi but went off it as it was too sweet for me.

Just cracked the Wray & Nephew a few hours ago in the garden. Doesn't taste bad per se but it's got a hell of a fucking kick to it. Had two glasses now with Pepsi and feel half cut.

Switched to Jamesons after the 3rd glass. Gonna have to quit soon though I'm up at 6 tomorrow and working a 12 hour shift.
