When Hodgson was manager in my hometown club Viking Stavanger he was asked why he didnt used the young players more. The club had som good juniorplayers at the time. But he just said. "Young players get managers sacked". Hope thing has changed since that...

I just Googled 'Owen Brown' to see what he is upto after leaving LFC, and apparently he is Rafa's European scout at Inter Milan.

“I still speak to Owen now and again – he’s got a decent job by the way.

“He was Rafa Benitez’s right-hand man at Liverpool and he’s taken him to Inter Milan as his European scout.”

Owen Brown is a "fixer" and basically acts as Rafa's personal assistant and player liaison officer. He looks after a lot of the little details like collecting new signings from the airport, arranging accommodation, transport, schools, interpreters etc. for new players, setting up interviews / photocalls for Rafa, leaking information to the press and a myriad of other day to day business.

I haven't met the man personally but a friend who has described him as an "Arthur Daley" type character who frequently swears and name drops. He said that Brown's job was to keep the wheels greased and make sure everything is ticking over to Rafa's satisfaction. I believe he also used to have some responsibility for distributing tickets to officials, agents etc.
