New left back

Have we had a really top class left back since Alan Kennedy? To be fair I'm not really sure how good he was either, I mainly remember his trophy winning goals. He was there for arguably our strongest spell ever, we were the best team on the planet for a decade there, but I'm really not sure he was that good.

Anyway after that my take is that all we've had is decent premiership/1st division quality or worse. Steve Nicol by far the best in the position for me the last 30 years, but he wasn't really a specialist left back even if some of his best performances probably were from that position.

I might sound like a broken record on here, but Klopp clearly rates Moreno (even if the body language experts on here will tell you otherwise). His physical attributes for the role of a modern fullback are unmatched, and his so - called positional problems are clearly playing to the instructions of Klopp, otherwise we would have been actively hunting for his replacement, not his understudy.

This is not to say Klopp hasn't been annoyed with some of his choices/performances/mistakes during the season. He clearly has. As he has been with Can, Ibe, Flanagan and many others. It's pretty telling of what Klopp thinks that Can and Moreno look like nailed on starters while Flanagan and Ibe are willingly let go on loan and sale respectively.

Maybe, just maybe Moreno isn't doing THAT bad a job after all? His coach (es) should really know if he's letting him down in terms of what they want him to do, shouldn't they? It's not like Klopp and his assistants are complete novices...

Anyway, I actually rate Moreno, and think he's been doing a decent job for us. I also trust Klopp to hone his game considerably over the next couple of seasons.

Stan Staunton was ace, but the was when I was at an age that any Liverpool player was ace in my eyes and I was gutted we didn't get candy when my mum and dad bought a new washing machine.

He's 5 foot 5. He gets mugged off with every set piece. He can't mark. He's a liability going forward and can't hit a cross above toddler height. He's got shit for brains. He's a yellow bellied bellend defensively. What's worse is he doesn't even care or know he's shit. He's the left back version of Mario Balotelli.

There is nothing he does well, i repeat NOTHING. He's one footed. His hair is fucking ridiculous. He looks like Stephanie Davis's ex boyfriend. He rides around on a fucking segway. He plays Pokemon Go in Alcatraz. In the words of Shankly, the man is a menace, he should be put in jail for what he does out the way of society.

It's certainly shaping up to be another tremendous transfer window for the reds.  Probably the best since, well since last season.

How so many were fooled into thinking a LB was required when the answer was up the other end of the pitch whacking corners into the crowd.

We got £15m for Ibe, I'll never understand why we didn't just stump up the £10m for Chilwell if he was Klopp's first choice, as reported.

We unsettled the player, refused to pay and are now looking to find square pegs to bang into round holes. How the fuck is that a plan? I'm sure the extra £2m we saved on any potential fee will be great consolation to everyone swearing as el man bun gets distracted by his own shadow and we concede from another cross.

I think if you're in our decent financial position and you genuinely think this guy is going to form part of a successful side for the ten years after he breaks into the first team, then you pay that fee. If he's a player they are first and foremost speculating on, the fee paid takes on more significance.

That's fair enough. Frankly, I'm surprised that Leicester were only asking £10m given the prices this window and the fact they clearly expect him to have a breakthrough season akin to Shaw's.

It appears that perhaps Klopp just isn't willing to spend more than he thinks a player's worth, which is fine, as long as there's a back up. We / he showed with Teixeira, there some times won't be, and it now seems like we're making moves that are less calculated and more opportunistic targets, reacting to the deals we can't / won't close after a protracted saga.

I'm not at panic stations yet, but I'm certainly not seeing the in-depth scouting that should be helping a manager here.

We're a Clyne injury away from having Moreno and Randal as our full backs. That's not even championship quality.

This isn't ok when we're set to make a profit during the window were even fucking Bournemouth are loaded.

We've spent more than Arsenal, Chelsea, Spurs, West Ham, Leicester and City at the minute. More than United on transfer fees too

We're spending money

Klopp tells him to be constantly caught out of position, physically bullied and to swing crosses into the opposing full back's midriff? Somehow I doubt it.

Just buy Rodriguez for fucks sake, buy anyone.

Guest Numero Veinticinco

Just sell Benteke to Crystal Palace and take the money and buy Ricardo Rodriguez. Defence sorted in one window.

Ricardo Rodriquez you say? Maybe we should have got him 3 years ago, now that would have been insightful.

Milner was statsictally one of the best players in Europe from January, now he is being made a backup for our fbs.

Baffling decision and I hope that doesn't mean Henderson will be starting ahead of him, I feel sorry for Milner aswell as he left city because he didn't want to be a backup midfielder. Now he's been made a backup fb for a club not competing for the top honours.
