In a 4-2-3-1 he could take Dirk's role. He's not a winger, but he isn't a central player either is he? If he was tucked in a bit from the right hand side he'd be a decent option.

 

Offload Babel and Riera and we'd have enough for him. Though I'd sooner we strengthened the other side of the pitch first.

 

He was asked to play more defensively for a bit and went on a strop pissing and moaning, agitating etc. Can't see him as being the type that will sacrifice his role for the team.

Some managers just like playing with two or even three defensive midfielders. He doesn't fit into Mancini's plans and if we're honest about it he probably isn't a Rafa type player either. Rafa was never entirely happy til he had Gerrard moved out of the centre, too many gaps to be filled if he was off somewhere else on the pitch.

 

For that reason I'd be surprised if it actually happened. But he certainly has the quality to play for us.
