Thought it was awful, most of it made no sense, and it stole dialogue from The Shield (a scene about Occum's Razor, originally spoken by Dutch) it also contained Americanisms such as calling a burglary a 'home invasion' so it's tailored for the Wire fans in America. Stringer Bell or no, when it comes to British drama - you can't polish a turd.

I thought it was good (if a little cliched in places). Idris Elba is a very charismatic actor, but I thought he showed some really subtle and nuanced touches in places. I'll certainly keep going with it.

Yes I saw it - he is quite good in it I thought but the woman who played the 'baddy' was bloody awful - like some comedy bond villain. Her mouth was very weird too !

Unfortunately it looks like she is set to re-appear

Ruth Wilson. Christ, you're picky - she gives me the raging horn and that mouth is downright sexy.

I'm going to stick with it, the first episode was fairly patchy but I'm intrigued to see if it's going to improve.

I cannot bring myself to watch a drama on terrestrial tv, I don't know what it is, I just refuse to believe it can be any good. I'll totally contradict myself here and say I actually caught a couple of episodes of 'the street' a while back and that was decent, but so fucking what, the point stands.

Better last night but more effort needs to go into the story than Elba being moody for 60 mins. The support cast is also really bad, Mackintosh looks like a little boy lost and Saskia Reeves seems to be attempting a Dick Van Dyke accent.

Now i've stumbled upon this tonight, and it's the first thing on ITV that I've seen in a while. Thought it was excellent. To be fair that wasn't because of Idris Elba or any of the Police actors, but because of the role played by the 'Cabbie', who was really good in it.

It might end up being shite though.

Seriously??? I find it makes absolutely no sense at all. Just a bunch of random characters punching walls and bursting into tears for no apparent reason. Absolutely baffling programme. Just seen a preview of next week which involves a mauri hitman of some description with a tattoo all over his face and Luther now seemingly an armed policeman. Baffled.

I caught it from where he gave his Mrs the necklace, so fuck knows what happened before that. I suppose the only standout thing was the performance of the Cabbie, the rest was particularly forgettable.

I thought it was highly enjoyable last night and am getting right into it. That plain looking bird out of Spooks was in it and not only turned in a good performance but also for some reason I'd quite like to do her up the wrongun, even though she's not particularly fit.

This is all I've ever seen him do in this.

Some bollocks coming on next week with that Suranne Jones in which looks like a rip off Cagney and Lacey. I've given a name to my pain, and the name is British procedural police dramas.
