Not sure if they've been mentioned but apart from the ones mentioned on this page i'd say Spartacus, Boardwalk Empire, Treme, Hung, The Good Wofe and Justified are worth a look. Might not be to everybodies taste.

Finally bit the bullet and based on ur various recommendations invested in the sopranos box set £49 from hmv. - 7 episodes done since new year and only another 75 to go. Very promising so far - really enjoying it. Not what I expected.

The first episode aired this week on IFC, I really liked it. It's basically a good natured piss take out of the city of Portland, Oregon so I don't know if it will cross over well.

 

Worth a look based on the first episode. It's up on demonoid and probably all of the other torrent sites.

I just started watching Fringe and Justified because a lot of my regulars are off season right now. Both seem pretty good, I've only seen a few episodes of each but I've really liked them. Fringe is kind of a X-files-ish and Justified is about a U.S Marshall who ends up shooting a lot of people but it's usually Justified.

I don't watch a lot of cop shows but this one seems cool. it stars Bullock from Deadwood, the Sheriff.
