I’ve just excepted a job and been told I have to do a working at heights course on wind turbines. I am shit at heights but thought it will be ok access is via an internal staircase and I’ll just about cope with that.

Turns out it is on the outside in a fucking harness. In the middle of the sea.

FUCK. THAT. FOR. A. LARK.

Repped for having balls of fucking steel.  Invest in some ultra thermal underwear and make sure they give you heavy duty waterproof clothing.

My cousin spent years on the oil rigs in Aberdeenshire and he told me about some of the hairy shit that happens when you're offshore.

Good luck with that, seriously.

Just had a message from my boss, having a call tomorrow am to discuss my concerns.

Considering he wants me to negotiate 2 contracts that my new company will be responsible for and I have access to all competitor info I’m hoping it’ll be a straight red card.

My replacement starts on Monday, earlier than expected so there's going to be 29 working days of "handover."  My boss has had a sudden change of heart and decided I can't write up my procedures at home for time and a half cash in hand and is generally being funny with me.  Think he's realised there's going to be a good 2 or 3 weeks he's paying me for fuck all so will try to get me out of the door sooner.

First day of lectures today. Head is swamped. Total overload of information after two days of induction seminars and lectures.

Respect to anyone studying and raising kids at the same time. And to your wife. It'll be a team effort that gets you through this

LadyD will be a star. Her reward is she will becoming MrsD by the end of the year.

Last day of my first week tomorrow. Think I'll be spending all of Sunday in the library getting reading and research done.

Missed a lot of ToddleD this week, her first days of Reception. I explained what was going on and that it might mean she sees a lot less of me because I'll be working later but she said "it's OK daddy you can just cuddle me when I'm asleep" HHNNNGGGHHHHHHHHHHH

Edit: I'll be doing the seat planning before anyone says

Just finished my first full week of placement. It's been brilliant. Some wins, some losses, a learning curve so steep you can see why people fall from it. The kids are great and the staff in my school seem very supportive. The amount of planning paper work I'm required to evidence my training dwarfs what I see the actual teachers doing for successful lessons so it seems just a case of getting through it.

The atmosphere of a school is so vibrant and different I don't know how I got myself out of bed to do my shit boring jobs for so many years.

I know the worst is to come and I'm just riding the crest of a good week but I'm so glad I went for it.

Good for you, mate!

I work in primary schools and alternate between hating the little fuckers and loving them.
