I don't think I'm anywhere near finished yet but Inscryption is fantastic. It's made by one person and is probably the best thing I've played all year. Incredibly inventive and best played without knowing anything about it. It's ridiculously cheap in the Epic sale (6 euro or so) as well. Sort of a dark roguelite card game. Sort of.

A couple of Christmas games I've just had an early go on.

Psychonauts 2 - It's close enough to the first one to just be brilliant regardless but, fuck me, does it it lay it on a bit thick with the cutscenes. Every corny joke has to cut away from the action, and there are a lot of corny jokes, I want to play the game!

Demon's Souls - Probably the first properly next-gen game I've played and it's incredible. Just looks amazing. Just been messing around so far (beaten the first boss and then managed to lose my souls in the hub world, so have been doing a bit of grinding to get my level back to where it would have been), tried to take a few steps forward and got my arse kicked, so guessing it's going to get serious now.

It's brilliant, fantastic atmosphere too. If you haven't yet played it, Pony Island by the same guy is well worth a go too.

Finished this, platinum actually as was only missing a few collectibles. Great game. Actually by the end I think I even preferred it to the original, much more depth to it. Wouldn't dive straight in on this one, but it's top quality.

Finished Ghost of Tsushima and am now on a +Game play through. I definitely enjoyed it, but I don’t think it matches the hype. For me, it’s a good rather than great game.

I got platinum on that but it became a massive chore towards the end. The game is great fun but very samey and you end up massively overpowered once you unlock the moves/bombs.

Will buy the sequel though. Days Gone was better but no sequel which is a complete travesty.

Agree with all of that. I’m not a fan of cut scenes either. They all have them these days but they’re so long and often frustratingly un-skippable. This is no exception.

Bend proposed a sequel plus an open world Resistance game but Sony dismissed both due to anticipated lack of sales interest.

They’re working on a brand new game now.

Untitled Goose Game

Bloody hell I laughed playing this game. Got it in the switch sale yesterday and finished it. It's only short, but God it's fun.  It's like metal gear solid, only you're an annoying goose.

Me and Mrs D celebrating as I'm running away with some fella's slipper. The sound track is perfect, the animations are simple but beautiful. The puzzles aren't one that will overly challenge you but some of them are quite tricky.

I paid £9 which was probably right. I'd play it again and KidD just likes running round causing mayhem.

A perfect game.

Not necessarily the greatest game ever, but it completely nails what it sets out to achieve, everything about it is fantastic.

Days Gone was fun but it was really generic for large parts of it. I'd like to have seen them get a sequel though, a chance to fix some of the problems and Assassin's Creed-style samey fetch quests.

Pretty much every open world game I've played has the samey fetch type quests, just part of the genre.
