What's the benefit of using that over just doing it via media player?

 

Not sure there are any benefits, just an alternative.

 

I've only ever gone up to WMP10, which I don't believe has the capacity to stream files, unlike 11 and 12.

 

As for PS3 Media Server, I can't comment as I've never used it.

 

Popper is right about TVersity though. They have started issuing a lot of updates in the past year or so.

 

I don't use any of them now, as I have my desktop connected straight to me TV via HDMI.

I have switched to ps3 media server and it seems to work a lot better. I had issues with tversity, such as the time it took to update the library once something had been added. ps3 media server has worked better and updates way faster.

Just messing about and went on to Iraq goals to see if I could watch the footy from there, works fine for the Barca match.

So once you do all this, I take it you need to wire your laptop to the playstation because your leptop isn't transmitting? So is this any better than just playing any media player through your tv?
