It could be worse....we could be Man Ure.

United's much lauded strength in depth stood them in good stead today. Fuck knows how they'd get on if the Croxteth Gargoyle ever got a bad injury.

Of course I'd love to be in United's place in the Premier League and the Champions' League but I delight in their failures all the same. Even if we were leading the Premier league by twenty points and were nailed on for a trip to Madrid in May, I'd still find the result at Old Trafford today a source of pleasure. It ain't a matter of crowing triumphantly, more a case of having a malicious giggle.

Some light relief from all our troubles and it makes me forget how shit we were yesterday.

But obvioulsy we would all happilly be out of the FA Cup with UTDs PL points total but as Johnny H puts it lets just enjoy the moment because we havent had too many good moments this season.

Hopefully we get Leeds in the next round

I just hope we get to the next round!

I agree to an extent, Brownie, although I think there are one or two exceptions. The Chelsea semi-final in 2005, for example.

I totally agree; earlier I said, 'No; when we're up against it and the team needs us, we blow the roof off to try and help', and that's one of the examples i'd use for that.

I think it can have an effect in special circumstances.

Didn't that stadium tour operator John Terry state in his book that he and his team mates had heard nothing like the noise that night and that it had affected them?

Yeah I think so, and as I said I think it can have an effect in special circumstances, but generally it means nothing. My original point is that the fans are not a problem where LFC are concerned, despite what some people try to claim.

In principle I agree with you Ian, but I don't think booing while we were still top of the league last season particularly helped. If that had been fans from any other club, many fans at Liverpool would have been appalled.

I know what you mean but you could argue that the boo's were purely frustration at the fact that we were missing out on a massive oppurtunity to win the league, and in the end it was proven correct.

Not that I agree with it; you shouldn't boo at all when you're at the match. That's how my dad raised me as a Liverpool fan and I believe it's the right way.

Booing is part of football though; the Mancs booed today and they've won the league three years in a row. Chelsea booed the other week and they're top. There's a minority of fans out there who don't have a clue - it's what the majority do that's important to me.

I'm one of them some people and I honestly do believe a crowd can adversely as well as positively affect the teams performance.

In some circumstances I believe it can as well, but where Liverpool are concerned I don't think it's an issue at all, which is where we obviously differ.

Chelsea fans seem to boo if there not at least 2 up at half-time,bell ends.

Yet they're top of the league and have been very successful over recent years; which is my point. Does it help? No, but in my opinion your fans don't win you leagues, they just watch the players do it and enjoy doing so.

Put it this way, we're not in the mess we are right now, because of our fans.

Just been listening to the radio and havent heard one commentator saying Ginsoak (or Champagne Socialist as he should be known now) disrespected the cup with his team selection today that wasnt his best 11. If this had been Benitez you would all hear them saying how he should always pick his best 11 and anything less would a. disrespect the great institution of FA Cup b. Shit on all fans of football and finally c. piss on the graves of all the great footballers who have played in this competition (or flogged on their tickets illegally). But this is Man U so no one says a word do they they eh Stan !

Bad Point ; We're not really in any position to take the piss.

Good Points ; It was Berbatov who lost the ball to give Leeds their break and goal.

Fergie's reaction to Owen's scuff when it looked easier to score.

Fergie writing off Owen's chances of going to the World Cup with the 'we can't drop Rooney' interview this morning, (basically saying 'I don't trust Owen'. I was genuinely shocked he came out and said it. Certainly puts Rafa's ,'The senior players should take more responsibility' stuff after the Villa game into perspective doesn't it.?)

Leeds showing that if you get at Man U then you've got a great chance against them. (Now for fucks sake can the rest of the league take fucking note?)

Taking everything into perspective, that's a fucking quality post.

I drew a lot of pleasure from the Man Utd result. It helped me, albeit momentarily, take my mind off the mess we are in. Of course I would swap our position for theirs as any sane person would, but leaving that aside, if something is funny then it needs to be laughed at. And Man Utd 0 Leeds 1 is funny.

Ha ha!

I hope Mick McCarthy was watching that match. Spineless nobody that he is.

Take the Mancs on, and they are eminently beatable. Delighted for Leeds that after the last few years they have had, they can still get a day and a result like this - there's hope for us yet when this club rises like a pheonix from the ashes of the rule of our two Yank "custodians".
