If you play red/black on roulette once you expect to lose 3%.

However you will win almost half the time.

If you play the same strategy 38 times, your percentage chance of winning drops dramatically.

If you play it a million times, you will lose.

Because there is so much inequality in PL wages, 38 games is sufficient to give the 90% correlation.

Dont know about that.

Last time I went to the Circus I walked out with more than £1200 in my pocket and I only play either red or black or 1-12, 12-24, 24-36.

I`ve never lost on the roullete playing this way to be honest.

You could easily use your argument without even mentioning wages you know Catch, instead you could replace wages with better players.

I see you like to use City as an argument, for me they are mor likely to pove you argument wrong because they have overpaid wages to average footballers so with them wages and quality do not go hand in hand at he moment.

So instead of looking at wages I would start to look at the quality of players and manager, it will give you a better understanding of it.

Talking about wages and net spend, how would you explain that we beat those with higher wage budgets than us last season but lost the league because we could not finish off the dross which all had lower wage budgets then us?

That cant be right?

Again, we're not talking about individual outcomes of games here, but the entire season. Upsets happen, it's called variance. Burnley beat the mancs but have reverted to type by losing some games lately. Meanwhile, the mancs have reverted to type by winning most of their games lately.

In my opinion wages are more important for sustained success than for a one off season, where any of the top four can grab the title if everything clicks into place. Keeping a squad of champions together is very, very expensive in terms of wages these days.

If that is that simple, why not do that every night? Soon that 1200 would be enough to buy the LFC, and we could all complain about you...

Apparently the latest opus contains this masterpiece;

Towards the end of his massively successful reign, and with his team still the best in England, Kenny Dalglish was torn apart for fielding three full-backs in midfield away at Arsenal. I even heard it mentioned by one commentator recently.

What wasn't mentioned was that the Reds won.

We lost. 0-3. It was the beginning of the end for Kenny.

Try again.

City will be interesting,yes.

I have them doing much better than the bookmakers did at the start of this season for precisely that reason.

But Milan 05, what if your wage bill is out of kilter with the quality of the players? Degen on £40k per week? Babel on nearly £50k per week? Voronin on over £50k per week? These players wouldn't get a fraction of those sums at any well-run midtable Premiership club, but arguably that's their level at best.

Whether it’s football, roulette or the lottery, statistically there's always a 50% chance to win. There are only two options. Either you win or you don’t - 50/50.

This is one of the most retarded things I have ever read, and I've been on here for a while.

Haha. Couldn't help noticing he doesn't specify how much he went in with though. My guess is a lot more than £1200.

Gamblers always "break even". I've never met one yet who didn't push this line till it died.

True, I'm no gambler but I know I've been guilty of that. To go a stage further, I had a night playing three-card brag all night with four mates, and the following day all five of us claimed to have ended up with slightly more money than they started with.

Generating money from nowhere like that, maybe we should have carried on playing every night instead of going to work.

I wasn't going to comment on the piece on the offal after my last attempt at a critique of Tomkins but I can't let this pass:

For instance, taking off Benayoun at Fulham to bring on a fresh, eager young goalscorer. Whether or not you agree with that is up to you; it’s a judgement call. It comes with no guarantees.

But as a decision it is effectively rendered null and void by the immediate dismissal of Philipp Degen, for what was never a sending off in a million years.

Many of the points Tomkins makes in his article are ones I've made myself over the weekend (Torres coming off being understandable if he's not fully fit, the manager's job not really being as easy as we think it is when we've had a few pints) but that's why the above paragraph irked me so much. I made what I thought was a fairly measured post about the game which was mainly supportive of Rafa and I still think the Benayoun decision was wrong, in fact I haven't heard one person suggest it was the right choice yet.

The bit in bold is the literary equivalent of shitting out of a tackle. It says he knows that he can't defend it so he's going to abdicate responsibility to the reader. Before he does that though, he's going to give it a little spin, so instead of:

"taking off the lively Banayoun at Fulham to bring on an inexperienced reserve team player,"

Rafa was:

"taking off Benayoun at Fulham to bring on a fresh, eager young goalscorer."

But hey kids, remember that whether you agree with bringing off Yossi for Fresh! Eager! Young! Ecclestone or not is entirely up to you.

I think the positive stuff he writes would perhaps carry more credibility if he seasoned it with a bit more objectivity at times.

Your guess is wrong, I went in with £200 and was interrupted by staff trying to break my flow several times during the night, taking me away from the table getting everything of personal details, my picture etc..

In the end I thought fuck this, so I told me mate who was sitting at another table playing Black Jack it was time to go.

The funny hing is that they wanted to deny me first because they thought I was too drunk, well suck on that!

Remember that time you went Go Karting and the bloke who runs it pulled you over and said 'hey no professionals' and you said 'I'm not a professional' and the bloke said 'you must be' etc etc

So, in between watching every single minute of football played in the world, updating your thesis on the problem with modern football and detailing your solutions, you also manage to take the Casino's on at their own game!

You're like a fat bird in leggings! deluded.
