Insua is not good enough, he has caused us so many issues. Lucas again has contributed nothing. Kuyt has a lot of endeavour but no quality. I really hope Rafa realises that he has to buy offensive players. Overall though a great effort considering the lack of quality. Liverpool fc should never again be in this predicament!

I'd rather see us face the Mancs with a fully-fit squad without them than playing Gerrard and Torres half-injured. Doing so would be suicide. We'll have less class, but as we can see tonight the other players puts in more of an effort without them playing if Rafa picks the right lineup and doesn't make a mess out of the tactics like he did on Saturday.

Lyon are playing two midfielders at CB at the moment, we need to keep getting the crosses in from out wide to put pressure on them.

Inusa is having a mare, he is making school boy errors inside the box as he focuses on the ball instead of his zone/man and twice has it almost cost us.

We were outplayed at the start of the game but Cris`s injury seemed to give us a lift, will be interesting to see if Lyon can adjust to not having one single CB in their team in the second half.

We look void for ideas going forward and ou collective attacking gameplan is really poor, but if we are lucky it looks like we have a chance to get away with all three points.

We cant sit back though, we need to put the Lyon defense under pressure, especially those two midfielders at CB.

Here we go with the stupid cliches. Insua has had a below average first half, but Lucas and Masch have been quite good in midfield. Lucas has had at least 2 surging runs into the box that almost payed off. Masch has been a monster. Our possession hasn't been as high as we are used to but in the last 20 minutes it's been unusually dynamic and dangerous. Kuyt has been very solid, involved in almost every attack, and almost scoring. So fuck off, negged.

More Carlton Palmer gems:

Benitez has gotten away with murder. The game has turned fortuitously with Gerrard's injury, Aurelio has played well, Cris getting injured etc.

The great Carlton who got sacked as Stockport's Manager. Had some mates there at that time and they he was (and had) the biggest tool in the game.

It's surreal on Sky. They've got Graeme ('we're just three players away from a good team') Souness moaning about Rafa's transfer record, they've got Hoddle talking his usual nonsense about 'reactional saves' and they've got Klinsmann there, looking a bit dazed, presumably waiting for Gillett to take him out to supper!

Correct and correctly acted... Lucas and Kelly have impressed me, the game as a whole is a bit untidy. We should press harder and be more patient when we have possession. So far way better than the previous game...

He has a lot of disdain of Benitez based on what he's said tonight. He also said at one point that Alex Ferguson doesn't rotate his squad... and that we were poor in Roma 2 weeks ago.

Seriously, how these guys get these gigs I'll never know.

Half time analysis from the Woo Camp, is that the next time I ask someone to make me a cup of coffee, and they come back with some deadly 'latte' mixture that came in a sachet, I am going to pop a cap in someone's ass.

Oh, and blueberry muffins are awesome.

Back to you guys in the studio.....
