Can she eat kibble or dry food? My sister's family tends to leave dry food and water if the family has to leave the dog to go out to work and school.

I know it isn't always the easiest thing to do, but ideally you need a more regimented way to feed your dog, that way you get a better idea of when they need a shite for example.

Letting them graze throws all that up in the air and you're more likely to come home to a mess and some dogs resort to eating it.

Once they've started doing that, it's a hard habit to break.

We're a bit ad-hoc in how we feed Monty. We don't feed him an hour either side of walks which means he tends to get something mid-morning and then early evening but sometimes he's not hungry or he's had too many training snacks through the day. Like you Paulie, we tend to give him a good quality kibble mixed with some cooked meat and vegetables. He's 20 months now and a bit more used to the routine but he was a bit fussy at around 1 year old; there were definitely spells when I thought he wasn't eating enough and was getting a bit skinny. We also tend to change flavour of kibble, from the same brand, with each bag which I think helps with keeping his interest in it.

Which kibble do you use?.

We used to use Eukanuba but the dogs were like loonies on it so we changed to James Wellbeloved which is bloody good stuff.

We were getting low on it once a few years ago now and the place where we usually got it from didn't have the one we wanted in stock.

The woman who ran the place recommended Skinners which is the same quality but much cheaper as it's for working dogs so no VAT.

Really good stuff, plenty of different flavours,  there's no rubbish in it so less waste and less waste means less shit.

We've never used anything else since.

Do you let your two off their leads when you walk them mate? Impossible with the female of mine as she thinks its all a big game and just pegs it off - the male is sound, he will leg it too but he will come back pretty quickly.

This story is ace!

Russell Jones, whose leg had been placed in a plaster cast, took to social media to share footage of his beloved lurcher Bill hop along the street with his paw raised above the ground in an effort to mimic his owner's movements.

Mr Jones, who is believed to be from London, later explained that he had paid £300 in vet fees and X-rays for his limping canine - only to discover the dog was copying him out of sympathy.
