I reckon you could argue either way, and my point that I probably didn’t make clear was never that they would only field their academy grads, but more so that it would provide them with a solid base from which they could sprinkle bonafide stars over and above. Add Van Dijk, Thiago Silva and Harry Kane.. and that team would only cost <£200m, and it’d challenge for the title IMO.

It was a pleasure to beat them at the weekend. We were on a train full of them from Marylebone. Utter cunts to a man. I know they will find a way to resolve this mess, but it would be fucking marvelous if they didn't.

 

It's interesting that BBC article doesn't mention the EU..someone was telling me last week the back end of that loan lands with a company based in the EU (or there's an EU company in the chain). Because the EU seize assets and not just freeze them, I was told the EU are the stumbling block in the deal. They don't see that 1.6bn as abramovich's to give away anywhere. Any of his money (or in this cas outstanding debt) they see as theirs. And there's no way the EU will be arsed if Chelsea go to the wall because of this.
