The myth that Liverpool don't have money to spend

Can't remember or be bothered to check if I ever posted in this thread, but the crux of the matter is that yes we have had money to spend, but there is a difference between using the money to add to the squad, and generating revenue to change it.

1 invs. One in and one out.

Oh, and that Scatman was an unexpected bonus!

Liverpool FC will not repeat summer spending spree, warns Anfield chief

Damien Comolli insists Liverpool will not be embarking on another summer spending spree.

The Reds' director of football spoke of the desperation of 'big players' wanting to join the current project at Anfield, even before last weekend's Carling Cup victory, which hinted that a repeat of last year's outlay totalling £110million could be on the cards.

But Comolli has warned that manager Kenny Dalglish will not be armed with the financial clout which has allowed him to rebuild Liverpool's squad and insists that minor adjustments, by comparison, will be made during the close season.

He said: "It is early days. We will probably make some adjustments in the summer but nothing that we've done before.

"We signed nine players since Kenny came back so there will be a few adjustments but nothing massive. We have done the hard work and now it is a question of making some adjustments in certain positions.

"Kenny has said it several times that we have a very competitive squad and all positions are covered by two or three players, quality players, and we have a lot of young players coming through as well."

Think we'll just have to wait and see what actually happens, but unless big investment is made (again), then we'll be finishing 6th/7th.

FSG made a statement of intent last year, but we've wasted most of the money we've spent, and I wonder whether they might look to move the club on.

From this point on, City/Chelsea will get round FFP by employing an expensive lawyer, and we'll be left trying to hang on to some coat tails.

Without CL money, we don't have the resources to make payments on a stadium and improve the team.

This summer will show us exactly what the long term plan of FSG actually is.
