So, this Derren Brown stunt...

Apparently Derren Brown is going to predict the Lottery numbers tomorrow night. While the National Lottery show is on BBC tomorrow night, Derren will have a programme on channel 4 at the exact same time where he is going to predict the numbers that come up. If he gets it correct, he will explain how it is done on his new show on Friday night.

Surely this is a pile of shite?

Nah, it'll just be some trick that involves something other than actually predicting the numbers.

Seen him live twice, spellbinding, even though you know he's taking the piss

Learnt a lot reading his book, which is well worth a read, if only for the memory exercises and basic "cold reading" techniques

Obviously all his acts are a setup but it is amazing how he carries them out. The flipping the coin act where he gets heads ten times in a row impressed me. Pity it took over 20 hours of filming though.

Did he flip it and catch it? You'd be surprised how often if the tail is facing up and you flick a coin and catch it, then put it onto the back of your hand it will come up heads and Vicky Versa.

Why one? The 'Tricks of the Mind' book or the one called 'Deception?'. I just had a look on Amazon, because I should have read that already. He has more than one - three I think. EDIT: Four.

I think he said if it is heads up when you flip it, it will most likely be heads when it lands, 52% or something small, so basically it would be quicker waiting ten tries to get ten out of ten for heads than tails because heads is more likely.

Tricks of the mind is the one I was referring to, easy to read and not overly complicated whilst being in depth enough for it to be worthwhile

Got bought "Pure Effect" as a wedding present which was fucking amazing as it's out of print and hard to get hold of, planning on reading it when I've got time to really take it in as it's proper deep shit that's currently way above my comprehension.

No for christ sake I can do that. No he just kept filming it until he actually got ten in a row. Took over twenty hours.

Considering the odds of doing this are absolutely astronomical you could literally sit in a room for years and never get 20 consecutive heads. I can't think how to put it into a calculator right now but I think it's over 1 million to one.

I'll be watching tomorrow. I've seen him live and I have no idea how he does most of what he does. He really is amazing.

Oh sorry, just realised you said 10 not twenty... still the odds are very high. 1024/1. Having said that, if you increase the length of the run it makes it a lot more likely. in just twenty tosses there are potentially 10 possibilities. Now my head is starting to hurt.

Whats with that advert he does? Hes walking around the streets and its got a Manchester United.com poster behind but spelled backwards and the majority of stuff thats in the ad is red and black.....

We went to see him a few months back, my mates missus wife was dragged on stage and her dead grandparents discussed in front of everyone.

Loved it
