Greatest British film ever made?

The Lady Killers, The Third Man, and The 39 Steps are great films.

But what about:

A Matter of Life and Death

If

Brief Encounter

In which we serve

The Cruel Sea

Hobson's Choice

Great Expectations

The Bridge on the River Kwai

Agree on Trainspotting and This is England

Cany agree about Withnall and I.

But why has no one mentioned - Gregory's Girl. Dee Hepburn and Clare Grogan. Perfect wank material for a young teenager. Dee Hepburn in those tight white shorts.. flippin hell...

Sexy Beast. Although a remake of Tommy The Toreador (Brit in Spain forced into fulfilling a role he'd rather not), Ray Winstone's performance is more convincing than Tommy Steele's in the earlier tale of cockney chap facing a proper nawwttteeee situation.

How about something from the Ealing stables.

Kind Hearts & Coronets.

The Ladykillers.

Sir Alec Guinness was boss back in the day, pre Obi-Wan.

The Lavender Hill Mob, great film too. I really enjoy some of the old British films, Ealing Studios churned out some classics.

But the classic 'The Ladykillers' is my favourite.

Rise of The Footsoldier is shite. I thought it was decent at first but on rewatching it it was turd.
