I can imagine when he is let go by the mancs how Rash will be saying we should sign him because he wasnt given a fair chance.

Im off to play in a football tournament to raise money for a girl that I know died which is far more productive than reading this shite.

If we had gone in for him, and it were a straight fight between us and the cunts then im absolutely certain Owen would have chosen us - however, Rafa has made it abundantly clear he has never been 100% convinced by Owen and there are better options out there - despite the pleas from Carra and Gerrard.

To say them signing him would be a "massive psychological blow" to us - would suggest they beat us to his signature, which is hugely inacurate.

The only concern now is what has Rafa got up his sleeve? Torres and N'Gog are our only recognised strikers, and for him to not even show a slightest interest in Owen - means he must have targets in mind that are better than MO.

Over to you Rafa...

Overall, Rafa hasn't exactly torn up trees with the strikers he has signed has he?

I'm sure my post was perfectly clear.

If Owen is successful at United, then I think that will have a psychological effect on us.

Nothing about "beating us to his signature" or anything like that, just the mere fact of a Liverpool FC legend scoring for fun at Old Trafford.

If Owen is a success, do you not think that the sight of him banging in goals for United will affect us in any way?

Depends who "us" is. It will annoy the fans, no doubt, but I don't see why it would affect the team any more than if it were someone else.

I could see more validity in what you are suggesting if they were signing him directly from us, or if we were also interested in getting him back.

Like I said earlier, Ronaldo & Tevez/Valencia & Owen. Which combination is likely to worry us more?

Having the little shitpot running through on goal while the manc hordes foam at the mouth and scream "Build a bommie..." is an irksome picture to paint to say the very least.

As usual though, this is all about England. He knows England attacks are built around Rooney, and this will give him the chance to try and form a partnership with the fat-headed geriophile.

No-one could have expected Morientes to be as shit as he was - look how well he did at Valencia afterwards. Cisse was signed before he arrived. Bellamy and Crouch both did ok - but were sold at profits so no qualms there. Voronin was free and the kids like Ngog are worth taking a chance on cuz they aint costing the earth. Other than that he brought Robbie back... oh yeah and he signed some Spanish kid who did ok i suppose.

To suggest its Rafa who made the mistakes is wide of the mark Rash - his only real clanger was Keane and he rectified that by getting rid early

This again? Seriously?

Torres and Kuyt have been successes. Crouch, Bellamy, and Fowler did a job, Voronin has been ok. Babel has been shit. Jury's still out on N'Gog, but I don't think anyone thought that Morientes was going to be a failure when he signed for us. On paper, he was exactly what he wanted. Crouch and Bellamy were sold on at a profit, Voronin presumably will be too. Keane admittedly wasn't a great buy.

I'd say Rafa has done alright with strikers personally.

Which Premier League manager has a a better record than that, besides of course your beloved Wenger?

His only overwhelming success is Torres mate, The End.

How many overwhelming successes do you expect? He signed a player who looks like he'll become the best striker to have played in the Premier League. And some others who are a good deal better than you are willing to admit...

owen is finished as a footballer as he has not the pace anymore and in additon has an appaling injury record. he was a hateful little bollox when at liverpool and put himself ahead of the club. he is a self absorbed ego maniac / brand and i believe manchester united is in fact his spiritual home. the pair deserve each other. I have decided that from now on his name should not be mentioned this forum.

Gotta love SD and TT lining up to suck Ferguson cock here. Nice work.

I know you're like the Crown Prince of the Ostrich Mentality on here ("If we bury our heads in the sand, maybe it's not happening!") but grow the fuck up.

I am merely pointing out that for the manager of our biggest rivals, this represents a low risk (ie cheap) signing that has potentially big rewards.

If you think pointing that out, or indeed, pointing out that Slur is a past master at this kind of thing constitutes "sucking cock", then nothing I write can remove those heavily-tinted specs from your nose.
