If all the American soldiers are out tomorrow then no more can die between now and the election. It won’t be an election issue. All the Democrats have to say is ‘you want us to stay in a country with suicide bombings happening every week?’

To be honest, this is a bonkers take. This is nothing to do with an election more than three years away. Biden is actually carrying out Trump's plan.

What will play out at the election?  This won’t be raised as it’s a no win for the Republicans.  They wanted the troops out, Biden got them out (albeit to Trumps

shit plan).

All you need to do is have a look at Fox News for five minutes, where he's constantly getting hammered (as he is on CNN to be fair). Republicans can turn on a dime, whether it's rational or not,

An incumbent democrat president with American troops' blood on his hands, possible resurgence of the terrorist threat on the homeland... plenty to go on for them and it's already happening.

I’m struggling here. No Republican is going to vote for a Democrat because he managed the draw down from Iraq well.  Fox can wank on to their audience all they want but this have zero impact on the election.

You're extremely naive if you think Fox News has no impact on American elections. They literally decided one in 2000 by calling FL for Bush. Hannity and Carlson are consistently among the top rated cable TV shows in the United States.

Read what I wrote.  It bears no resemblance to what you’ve just written. Straw man

Bears plenty, because you massively underestimate the impact of Fox on the mindset of people in the United States (where I actually live) and the ability of those shock jock anchors to twist narratives.

Voting numbers in 2020 would suggest plenty of Republicans (or at least people who voted for Trump in 2016) voted for a Democrat in Biden. Some of the swing states come down to a few thousand votes. It doesn't take much.

So you think that not taking loads of Afghan refugees and getting out of the country before 9/11 will be seen as a bad thing by the Republicans?  They won’t give a flying fuck.

I genuinely don't know what point you're trying to make.

Biden is finished.

Last week he's talking about how there's a much diminished threat from terrorists in Afghanistan. They obviously had other ideas.

Tbf that buffoon in no 10 was saying last week we had vanquished the terrorist threat in Afghanistan aswell

What option did he have?

Stay for another 20 years ?

They wanted out and while it's been handled abysmally, they probally see it preferable to the alternative.

Get your people out. Get the people who helped you out. Then you can do what you want.

It's lazy that the only comeback is "what's he supposed to do stay another 20 years?" as if departing now (and scrambling to get all your people out before some arbitrary deadline) and staying 20 more years and fighting a forever war are the only options..
