I kinda get off on the Michael Owen thing. That cup final was one of the best days of my life. He’s got a free pass for eternity.

Owen was boss, carried the club and paid the price later in his career for being overused at 17, he owed us nothing to be honest, don't understand how he gets so much grief yet scumbags like Suarez and Torres get birthday wishes from the club's official Twitter account, quite bizarre. McManaman is well above Owen on the gobshite totem poll too.

Just don't really care either way and, like you, have some great memories of his playing. He was also a solid pro even at a young age, remember the likes of Ince briefing against Houllier to his mates in the NOTW and the Spice boys shit that had come before. Owen was nothing like that and never gave any less than 100% on the pitch.

Repped, although I don’t have a problem with McManaman.

McManaman went after we’d agreed a fee with Barca without telling him.

Thinks it's because we knew what he was up to though and didn't want to get shafted, which we were.

I remember his constant deflection of questions and stringing us along for ages, knowing full well he was going to be the Bosman flagship and was just taking the piss.

He's generally an annoying character too, one of those people who thinks because you speak fast you're smart. Someone on here once reckoned he still refers to us as 'the shite' too, whether true or not I could well believe it.

We won 3 trophies in 2001 and he got a taste for success. After the 1998 World Cup he was one of the hottest properties in World football but he had to wait another couple of seasons to win anything. We had one go at the league in 2002 and he probably thought like Torres did that he didn't want to hang around while we were never challenging for anything or going far in the CL.

Don't think many of us thought we would win the European Cup with Djimi Traore and a permanently fucked Harry Kewell.

Signing for Man Utd might be a reason.

For balance (with the exception of the twat Ince), I've never once heard any of the other players you've mentioned ever refer to Man Utd as "we" or "us". Owen does so regularly.
