Comes up quite a bit, does a Vegas request thread. If you do a thread search, it should throw up 4 or 5 threads which will help you out.

 

Vegas is ace, went last year as part of a Chicago/Vegas/LA trip. Food, atmos, weather, shows....whatever you are looking for, you'll get it. Saw the Beatles Love (cirque du soleil) which was superb.

If you are gaming. They will give you free booze. So, before you go out... go hit the nickle slot machines and flag down the waitress every time you bloody see her.

Can you go into any hotel for the buffet or do you have to be staying there?

Don't go when you're 16, it's such a cringeworhty experience.

Go on the Rollercoaster "Speed" at the Sahara Casino.

Go on the Stratosphere rides.

Keep and eye out for passing limo's, tend to be full of extremely fit women who may or may not expose their tits.

I second The Peppermill, got a bit of an old-school vibe, can imagaine Sinatra eating there. and the portions are massive!

 

You can eat at any buffet regardless of hotel, i'd recommend The Rio and Paris as the best ones, stay away from Sahara, Circus Circus and The Strat! best tip we got was find out when the breakfast/lunch crossover is and go about 15 minutes before that time, always loads more choice for lunch!

 

Spend at least one evening downtown with a football full of JD and Coke, ace laugh for nowhere near the money you would spend on the strip.

 

If you like the asian birds (and who doesn't?) get yourself to The Venetian any night Tao nightclub is open, it's heaven!!

Once you leave your hotel - you'll be constantly faced with mexican illegal's 'flicking' cards at you for local hookers. Im pretty sure pointing a gun at them is the only way to stop them coming near you

Any hotel, any buffet. I agree with the seafood buffet at the Rio - was in Vegas last week and went there. Bloody amazing. You can eat crab legs and lobster tails to your heart's content for $37 per person.

 

A decent alternative to the Grand Canyon is Red Rock Canyon - about 20 minutes West of the City (as opposed to several hours drive to the Grand Canyon - which is a day trip). You can do it in a morning if you want - and is actually quite spectacular as well. (Of course the Grand Canyon is much bigger and better, but this will give you a taste and is much closer).

 

CASINO FREE BEER TIP

One of the locals told me that if you are at a table and the waitress comes round taking your order for a free drink - when she brings it, tip her $2 the first time and $1 every time after that -- she will keep coming back.

 

Phantom of the Opera is great.

 

Cirque du Soleil - Zumanity is the best cirque in my opinion - much funnier than the others.

Might be an odd question, but any memorials or anything to Danny Gans out there, he was a bit of a Vegas mainstay, selling out every night. Died a week or so before you would have been there.

I didn't see anything much except a few billboards - and some of the cabs had ad signs commemorating Danny.
