Roy Barraclough?

He's was an old, dear friend, of my fake Aunt.

They used to go to the same clubs, if you know what I mean.

Had breakfast with him in Morrisons once, nothing to report, it was all very normal, he seemed nice.

Roy Barraclough was brilliant.

One of the many many reasons I stopped watching soaps was the completely false idea that a berk like Tyrone could pull a girl like that one that's not Fizz!

When that little garden gnome Chesney hooked up with the genuinely world class Katy, that was when it jumped the shark for me.

Yeah I was too. Although in hindsight, the way the characters were monologuing at bedside should've thrown a red flag for me.

Yeah they always make characters look sweet/happy just before they get killed off in soaps. They did it with that Maddie girl, she got into uni or won the lottery or something and was running to tell someone when the factory roof landed on her head.

I thoght the writing in this was boss, right down to how Abby is rambling when she's waiting for news, most of us have probably been there, sadly.

Also loved Roy's use of the phrase "to wit" followed by "here are the parish notes." Before telling an unconscious nina the latest gossip from the street.

Yeah, to be fair to the actor, he manages to make Roy a living, breathing character rather than just a wacky caricature at all times.

Asha can fuck off though. Makes stupid decision after stupid decision, despite knowing it's the wrong decision every time.

Wasn't she pouring bleach on her arms not that long ago?

Jackie used to say she had a learning disability. But I suppose being stupid is a learning disability.

Soaps get a bad rap sometimes but the writing in Corry over the Nina and Seb attack storyline is incredible, every aspect of it.

Yeah it’s been very good to be fair, it was obviously based on the Sophie Lancaster murder in 2007 and at first I thought that’s a bit close to the bone but then I saw on Look North that her Mum was heavily involved with the storyline which must have been very hard for her.

Nah, some very good actors have and still do appear in soaps.

Yeah agreed, corry has had some brilliant comedy actors down the years, they work under pretty tough conditions too in terms of turnaround time. It'd be interesting to see how some thespian types handled the workload.
