Tonight was immense. Had a feeling that the tie had life in it after last week, and as my previous posts regarding this testify, lets make the fuckers work hard for it. They could no relax until the final whistle, not even after Fat Frank made it 4-4 with his double post deflection. Theres something about this particular group of players that tells me that we dont have to wait too long for something special. There is great spirit, a never say die attitude and a hard working ethic. They simply do not roll over. Tonight was for the 96, nice touch by Fabio saluting the heavens after his goal. Felt for Pepe after Drogbas lucky goal, but there is no better keeper in England right now. Pleased for Lucas too, he had a decent game tonight. Proud of them all tonight. I look forward to next years battles. Its our turn I believe.

I am not angry with us tonight, or pissed off, or the usual feelings you suffer after being knocked out of a competition of this magnitude. I'm just Proud. Fuckin proud of our lads, proud that once again we have shown ourselves to be great on the highest stage, proud that we showed fight, spirit and we played the game the way it should, proud to be a fuckin red, and most importantly proud that we've given a performance worthy of the monumental anniversary that is upon us.

All I wanted tonight was for us to have a bloody go. Whether we went through or not, we needed a performance after last week to restore our reputation. It was always going to be a miraculous task, but us of all club's seem to specialise in them. And we nearly bloody did it. Despite the negativity and questions asked, Rafa proved once again that when it matters he delivers. His team selection was spot on, his tactics where spot on. Chelsea where rattled, and no one would've ever thought we'd have been 2-0 up after half an hour.

IMO, the game turned with Hiddinks instructions after the second goal. Chelsea reverted to type and produced a performance of utter shithousery. They looked to break the game up at every opportunity, spearheaded by that cunt Drogba and aided by the overrated shit Malouda. The diving and cheating was an absolute disgrace to football. But ultimately it worked. It stifled some of our momentum but we still had them on the ropes up to half time.

Second half though we nearly scored in the first few minutes, and whatever Hiddink said at half time went to pot as they looked rattled again and there for the taking. Then that bloody fluke goal changed the flow. And that's what it was, a total and utter fluke. The second was a result of another Drogba special. He back's in to the defender then hits the deck like he's been shot, and the ref fell for it time and time again. ITV didn't show it again, but it wasn't a fuckin free kick.

We started to get over ran and the midfield shape went to fuck, but that was to be expected. We'd given everything and the defensive shield which usually protects Carra and Skrtel was no where, meaning they where a lot more exposed. That's where their 3rd came from, but still that's not to say Drogba wasn't offside in the build up anyway. Even then though, I still felt we had goals in us. When Dirk banged in our fourth I was certain we'd get something. It wasn't to be, and even Chelsea's fourth was debatable because a clear foul was commited against us on the edge of our area and the gobshite ref (who gave us nothing after the pen) waived play on.

But we are the ones who come out of tonight with our heads held high. Chelsea where a disgrace. I was praying one of our lad's did Drogba good style, gave him a reason to go down. I'd have willingly accepted one of our boys taking a 6game ban to break that bastard in 2. They got lucky tonight. The fluke goal and a series of disgusting decisions by the referee who was conned throughout. We go in to the league run in with our momentum and confidence strengthened. Going out of a competition could really damage team's league form, but I think the manner in which we went out tonight will have the opposite affect on us. I'm just so fuckin proud of everyone of us, all the squad, the manager, the backroom staff, the fans. Everyone. We once again nearly pulled off something special. There is no other club like us, and I've never been prouder to be a red than I am tonight.

Tomorrow is another day, and another story. Tonight is forgotten for the time being and when the church bells chime 96 times at 3.06 tomorrow, everything will be put in to perspective. But there is no more a fitting tribute than the attitude shown tonight by Liverpool Football Club. It epitomised why we are special.

Not to single one man out Ian but he was class tonight, I had to laugh at one time he nearly knocked Skirtle out.

I also think, tonight showed how much we missed Mascherano from the first leg. Not crying over spilt milk but I do think he would have made a difference.

All said and done well played to a man and yes, very proud.

Ha Ha. Said to my daughter , Skrtel butts Xabi under the chin & it's Skrtel who ends up needing attention. I think Mr. Usher needs to change the banner for the legends to ' Scares Xabi Alonso'

I am very proud of the players and the fans to, when you see them gobshite Chelsea fans with their plastic flags booing off their own team it makes you appreciate being raised to support a proper team like the Reds with fellow proper fans.

Who the fuck are you? What have you done with JMARKH?

Just kidding mate - I know what you mean. One of those 'proud to be red' days.

I just hope Barcelona murder them, because another Blue Scum red Scum final would do me in.

Good post John, can hold our heads up high, can take so much from this game into the business end of the season.

Tonite just emphasizes exactly what supporting Liverpool is all about - not giving up whatever the world throws at us.

Tonite, I'm again, one proud scouser.

Justice to the 96.

Spot on.

This is the proudest I've ever been as a red and thats says something.

Be greatful you support us and not that bunch of classless cunts who are everything and I mean everything that we are not.

Well done reds, if it was the other way round they wouldnt of even showed but we battled and we were unlucky.

Roll on Arsenal...

What a game knew we were in for something special tonight.. had a feeling we score the four needed goals the problem was keeping the chav cheating cunts out..

We gave it our best shot without our captain and Torres not being in the game. 4 goals at stamford bridge is an acheivement itself.. Thought the ref gave them cheating cunts everything bound to score from a free kick if you give them so many around the box! Reina unlucky for the first goal too.. Lets hope mancs get knocked out tomorrow and replay in the fa cup aswell.. Bring home no.19

How on earth could they boo their side off at half time while they were leading and overcome by an awesome attacking performance? Cunts.

I've always said I'd rather 11 Dirk Kuyts in my side over 11 C. Ronaldos. People always sort of looked at me like I'd 2 heads because I could never explain it but what I meant is best summed up like this. I would rather lose every single week playing with the pride and passion we showed tonight then win every week with a shower of cunts in my beloved red shirts.

Everybody was a hero tonight. Everybody. The last time I felt like this about this club was after the Arsenal League Cup thrashing a few years back, I was proud to be a red because despite the inept performance our supporters kept supporting the side. Tonight I'm proud because our lads fought a lost cause and played with the passion we all desire.

You could see how gutted they all were at the final whistle. It wasn't just about going out in the Champions League. From looking at them I could see they felt they had let us down but more importantly let the 96 down. They didn't.

I know that there are 96 reds looking down tonight proud as punch that their football club put in that performance tonight. I know they'll wear the scarfs with pride tomorrow and if any of them bump into Jesus Christ they'll tell him he's special but not as special as Liverpool Football Club. I know they were proud when the 'Justice for the 96' banner was brought out after Chelsea's 4th. I know that after Aurelio's celebration they each took a turn to direct Pope John Pauls attention towards Stamford Bridge and let him know that Fabio Aurelio just dedicated one of the best set pieces ever to them.

Alot of people compare the Kop to having an extra man. Tonight we didn't have the Kop but in its place we had 96 extra men who inspired us to a heroic effort.

First things first, since it is 15 April over there, my thoughts are with the families of the 96. Justice.

(Two of my brothers were there on the day, one in Leppings Lane. He could easily have been one of the ones who didn't make it home).

Onto tonight's action. I left work at 2.30pm local time to get to the pub to watch the match. Even though we did not progress I was incredibly proud of the boys. They were excellent and played their hearts out.

At halftime I was going mental in the pub and a few others came over to watch to see what all the fuss was about. They didn't know the game or teams but were caught up in the moment with me, willing on the chasing team.

It was not to be, but I'm a happy man tonight. Proud to be a red.

Let me share my feelings too.

I went to bed at 11:30 P.M. but could barely sleep and then got up at 1:30 A.M. to watch the game. I felt the same as you guys although I'm far away here and have only been to the real LFC match once. I'm proud to be a red. I've always been.

It was a huge performance and for a long spell we were just a goal away from progressing. We scored 4 away against Chelsea and the fact they also scored 4 was mainly because we committed players up the field. Even after 4-4 our heads were not dropped and the players looked believe to be able to score again. I saw our support through the screen and cheers to you who were there.

Okay we have conceded 7 goals in 2 games and let in some really terrible goals but I am really proud of how our lads went about it tonight and had a right go. I have been a glass half empty kind of guy with Rafa over the past year and even tonight his Torres substitution was baffling to say the least but that is nitpicking slightly I suppose.

Resting him for a game in a weeks time was tantamount to throwing the towel in although we have seen that before at Reading last year from him. We are Liverpool. We never throw in the towel. He should have stayed on as that turn and shot shows he is capable of moments of brilliance even when he is quiet in the game.

We wanted a performance from them and we got it. I am GUTTED we aren't through but this week of all weeks it doesn't hurt as much as it normally would do.

Pride restored after the disappointing performance last week and the fans sounded fantastic down there and did us proud like the players did.

We are scoring goals freely now and it is great to see and I hope the manager learns from his experiences this season in going out to win games from the off rather than not to lose. If he shows that mentality like he has shown recently then with the right additions in the right areas next season we will take some stopping.

We know what we have to play for this season now. Show the attacking intent we showed tonight and have shown in recent weeks then we won't go far wrong.

Although Babel seemingly yawning on the bench has finished with me once and for all. Get rid.

Fair play to Clive Tyldsley as well tonight. He is probably my favourite commentator out there. He plugged the Hillsborough Memorial Service tomorrow and he had kind words about us all night and seemed to be rooting for us and his dig at Chelsea fans with free flags and us bringing our own was class. For a United fan he is okay.

Re the highlighted bit : We scored two after Torres had gone off - N'gog nearly won it for us at one point with an excellent shot headed off the line.

I don't think Torres made a great deal of difference tonight and you could (with an open mind) say Rafa's subs were (almost) an inspired choice.

the main thing from tonight

at least we're not chelsea

Oh fuck me, yes! So, so true!

Mind you - I think unless they have a piss poor one like us in the first game, Barca will rip them a new one (not that they are a team short of aresholes).

i hope so twats.

the day we start acting like them is the day i fuck off.

i am not arsed by their on the pitch antics, their whole mentality is different to ours off the field and while there is passion its about the same level of passion i have when im making a bacon buttie.

"The only time Drogba stayed on his feet was during the TV interview" hahaha.

Seriously though that was immense. They got back into it with a fluke and a freekick that shouldn't have been given. One would like to think that after last night luck will be our side.

I'm proud of this team, of this club, of the supporters and city.

If we don't win the Premiership this season (for the record I think we will) then we will next season. There is something special happening in L4.

I'm pretty sure Xabi was telling Drogshit what a cunt he was at the final whistle today

Yeah I thought that too. I was surprised how many of our players showed enough sportsmanship to shake his hand at the final whistle. I would've told him to suck a dick the cheating twat.

I seriously wonder how he goes home after a performance like that and makes love to his wife. She must see how he acted and be repulsed. You can't respect someone like that, you just can't.

You know if I sat down I could probably pin point where we fucked it up.

But I won't, that was one of the best games we've never won that I've seen Liverpool play in. When you draw 4-4 at Stamford Bridge after losing the first leg 3-1, you can't be anything but proud of your team.

I got up this morning and watched the highlights, the reaction on Sky Sports, and I didn't feel a thing other than pride.

I have no idea how to put my feelings this morning into words. I don’t know whether today being the day it is makes yesterdays performance feel different to how it might have felt any other day, but the pride I feel speaking to non Liverpool fans this morning is incredible. I feel like we won, I’m buzzing, I am immensely proud.

I hope that the players feel the same way, because in a game I genuinely believed we had zero chance of coming through, we were that close (fingers held an inch apart), twice. There were negatives in the game, but so many more positives. I woke this morning with a steely determination that no longer can we will the league, but we WILL win the league. And although the players will have felt deflated and disappointed in the immediate aftermath of the defeat, I think that half an hour later they will have been thinking the same.

I can have no understanding of how many Liverpool fans will be feeling this morning (thankfully), but through my pride in the club and all its parts, and the emotion of last night, I was moved to balling tears this morning on my drive to work listening to 5 live’s Hillsborough programme, and all I can think now is that this is a wonderful club to be a part of, how lucky I am to be a part of it, and how proud I am of our players, managers and fans, past, present and with good grace future.

I hope many of you feel the same way as I do this morning, because I believe you should. We are Liverpool and we are forever the greatest club on earth.

My best wishes go out to anyone who was affected by the tragedy, and my thoughts are with you all.

Rob Molyneux.

I can live with them shaking his hand after the game. But fucking hugging him after all the shit he'd been up to??!! I was thrilled to see Xabi telling him off.

And I agree with the general gist of this thread, the players went down fighting and the fans were immense as well. Without the willing help of the referee, Chelsea wouldn't have won.

Immense pride in the way that only we can muster. And that's not self-congratulatory, it's just the way it is. Talking of their fans booing at half time and waving those pre-arranged flags is obvious, but it clearly highlights the huge gap in history.

In the cold light of the morning, and on this day after 20 years, I don't want to talk too much about the game, other than there were a few weaknesses we could have exploited earlier - the right back for them? Just run at him! I would have let Torres drift out wide on that side a few times as Riera had the beating of him everytime. Pepe had an awful match, but they are pretty rare.

It's the current trend to say Hiddink is a great coach, but I do think he is, in an attacking sense he is too be admired. Drogba has a win at all costs mentality, whether that be time wasting, diving, you name it. He'll never change and I'll never stop ranting at what a twat he is.

On the flip side, Cole and Lampard had good grace after the game and didn't stop short of saying what a fantastic club we are. Fair play to them.

Think that's me done for today - didn't sleep until 3am mulling the game over and thinking of 20 years ago.

YNWA. Justice and peace for the 96.
