Fulham fans - Shocking info.

I've just been talking to a colleague who is a Fulham fan about tomorrows match. According to him "approximately 60% of Fulham fans used to be Chelsea fans before Abramovich put the prices up!" I explained to him that I'm shocked and has he heard about passion etc, not prices. He seems to be happy that Craven Cottage is fuller now and can't see the problem I have. Even if those figures are exaggerated I find it hard that even ONE previous Chelsea 'fan' would change teams just because of ticket prices.

Madness.

Ordinarily I'd agree (and I can't imagine me ever switching allegiance). However, there is something quite admirable about fans switching their support to a smaller, less successful club in protest at the commercialisation of football.

How can you possibly struggle to comprehend the fact that people hate Chelsea? Especially the Chelsea under the Abramovich era?

I don't struggle, I'm just shocked by the fickleness of them. I knew they had low standards but not this low.

Everton season ticket, anyone?

A very strange claim, considering Fulham's attendances are only about 3,000 more than they were when Abramovich went to Chelsea.

I understand that theory, but how can you lose your love for your 'old team'. Why dont you support the team you love from afar i.e Sky, Setanta like the rest of us non season ticket fans. A fan doesnt have to go the match.

seems an awful high percentage to me FP.

Are Fulham's prices that much lower that people who had not won the league since 1955 with Chelsea would jib it when they had just got a bit of success. ?

Those aren't my percentages, that what he said. I agree that the figures are high but one 'fan' is too many.

Entry level season tickets for Fulham are £299 for this season.

As I implied, I can't empathise with them so I don't know. I just admire it a little.

Agree with Paul's first point.

They aren't supporting an institution anyway, they are supporting fucking Chelsea.

Yes, its like swapping supermarkets. One day Tesco, next week Aldi. Whatever the best offer. Its almost as if its just an interest in football rather than a desire to follow your team.

This may well be the wrong time to make this point (leaving it 24 hours or so might be wiser), but I'm developing something of a soft spot for Fulham. I mean I've always loved The Murph, but Roy Hodgson seems like a genuinely nice fella and an astute manager to boot, and their performance and result against The Mancs the other week was ace. This is another star on their chart.

I feel the same, I've no bad feeling towards them. They seem to be our home for older players club .ie. Riedle, Murphy etc.

Can I direct your attention to a certain Manchester City.

Macca, God, Didi, Bellamy, James, Anelka and I'm sure there are a few others.

I'm not disagreeing. We were talking about Fulham.

I know but I was just saying that the shite Mancs have taken on alot more of our older players. I was talking about it in the pub the other night with my mate who's a City fan. He said he hates God for missing that peno and we eventually came up with a list of players who played for us but went to City eventually.
