Most things Belgian for me...other than Stella and the like of course, which from personal experience you can only buy in supermarkets or railway bars as far as Belgium is concerned......I love the menus of hundreds of beers you get in the bars over there; each with their own glass specifically designed to suit. I won't even give examples; almost all that I have tried have been of the highest quality.

My own favourites are the dark beers, but I also love the blonds. The Wheat and Fruit beers are lovely for a summer day or with a bit of lunch, though I might concede that the German Wheats have a bit more substance.

The range and complexity is just phenomenal. After my first visit there about a decade ago I wondered about the possibility of opening up a specialist boozer that concentrated on Belgian beer. I wasn't sure of the market though so didn't progress.

Other honourable mentions - British Ales have a good range and lots of high quality. Definitely something to be proud of. I would like to sample more German beers, though if I'm honest, a lot of their standard pilseners (your Warsteiner, Beck's, Lowenbrau etc,) don't do a lot for me. Same for Czech beers, though I can throw back a couple of Budwars pretty happily.

Beer is ace isn't it?

I just had some of this on saturday and I swear it's the greatest beer I've ever had.

They sell a blonde and a dark version of it in the waitrose in Formby, and the blonde one is even nicer than the normal version.

That is the best beer I've had.

There are a couple of these in London called something like Belgo Noord & Belgique Nouvelle or similar. They are outrageously expensive though, definitely not somewhere to get pissed.
