Whoever suggested Lidl’s beer called Perlenbacher is a cunt.

Tastes like piss and I have 7 cans left.

Talk about going all in. Post of the year for me, so far!

Got an order in from Innis & Gunn, as I wanted to try out their Mango IPA - Mangoes on the Run.

It's a bit different. Couldn't drink too many in a session as it's a bit sweet for my liking. Still, refreshing enough for this time of year.

Got a few cans to get through in total. 6x Mangoes on the Run, 6x Gunpowder IPA, 4x Lager Beer & 4x Innis & None.

Have also got a 6 litre keg of Franziskaner hooked up to my Perfect Draft, and I've got a keg of Leffe Royal Cascade IPA sat waiting to go too.

Can I come round to yours?

Haven't had a beer in two months. Gasping for a lovely, crisp, cold IPA in all of this hot weather.

Feeling your pain. My liver function test has been iffy the last 2 times it's been tested so as a result I'm not touching a drop to see if it improves. Not the best time of year to go dry.

I got these from Honest Brew online.

I had the Human Cannonball and Molotov Lite years ago in the Craft Beer Company pub, when we lived in Brighton.

Haven't tried the Unhuman yet (it's a bit intimidating, to be honest).

Had one of these from Siren: definitely full-on coffee taste, almost as deep as Kalhua.

Going to order this, next time:

Well, had the Human Cannonball earlier today when gardening, brought to me by my lovely wife (with the instruction: "any of them except the Unhuman!").

It was a lot more drinkable than the Molotov Lite, maybe because it was hot today, but I felt it was a lot more balanced and smooth. It's so drinkable, it took a while to kick-in and for me to feel it - weird, because Molotov Lite has a lower ABV but it punches early. I remember the Human Cannonball wrecking an American colleague of mine years ago: she used to drink Stella and Kronenburg. but I tried to warn her about this stuff. It's a slow burner.

At the risk of pissing people off, maybe the Human Cannonball is the Andre Ward of the beer world, and Molotov is the Kovalev?

I might finally grow the nads to try the Unhuman 11% this weekend, after more gardening. Or will chicken out again..

  • 4 weeks later...

Just bought 'Sainte Etienne' from Aldi.

Review to follow.

Bit shite considering it's an 4.8% beer.

Starts light with a smooth 'Amstel' taste but then slides into an unpleasant aftertaste.

Similar to having a nice meal and then having vomit-flavour burps a few hours later.

Wouldn't get again personally but better than the gash at Lidl.
