To Kill a Mockingbird removed from Virginia schools for racist language

Obviously, it needs a rewrite, in which the people treat Tom Robinson with respect and basic human decency

as they frame him for rape and then kill him

In my house it's a black sheep.  None of this "baa baa wooly sheep" nonsense.  Even though I've never actually been told I can't say "black sheep" nor have heard anyone other than bigots claim it's been banned in schools and nurseries (though not the one my daughter goes to nor one that anyone I know sends their kids) I will say it anyway because I don't care who I offend.

HOW MANY LIKES FOR THIS BLACK SHEEP WEARING A POPPY?

Best working environment I ever worked in was the first few years I was in the Army, you could take the piss out of literary anything. Family, race, appearance nothing was taboo!

It broke down barriers, everyone got on sound lifetime bonds and friendships made.

Swap that for the PC sterile environment I'm in now, backstabbing, absolutely no team ethic whatsoever amongst some colleagues people not even willing to have face to face meetings over disagreements (everything has to be done by email so there's a record)

There was a great exchange on Twitter last week where a bloke was moaning that schools weren't celebrating Christmas. He was asked to name them and he was presented with the online calendar showing nativity plays, Christmas disco, Christmas lunch etc. I think it was Dom Joly that highlighted it.

Facebook is great for that shit.  Im afraid I do rise to the bait.  That's why this Christmas I shall be spending time alone with my vegan kale and cauliflower roast.

In the army you have no choice but to take shit, its the whole point of the exercise. I would be interested to see how those black and asian ex soldiers, once back on civvy street, actually felt about being called 'sambo' or 'raghead' etc though.
