Just formalise the appointment of those already doing it - Gerrard as Chairman, Carragher as Managing Director and Bascombe as Chief Press Officer.

Liverpool fans have become as conversant with boardroom matters as with football matters over recent weeks, but there are still no clues as to who will be the new chairman or chief executive to follow Martin Broughton and Christian Purslow, who are stepping down. David Ginsberg and Michael Gordon have been appointed to the board but look at the "Senior Club Personnel" link on Liverpool's website and you will be told no more than: "This page will be updated shortly." NESV, the new owner, has not appointed a recruitment consultant to head the search for new executives but heading any list would surely be Keith Edelman, who in his eight years as the Arsenal managing director was instrumental in delivering the Emirates Stadium. The hard-boiled 60-year-old is known to NESV having been a consultant to Royal Bank of Scotland, the club's lender, and has just the skills-set the Anfield job requires.

I'm sure Edelman said he wouldnt be taking a role on but he might of changed his mind.

 

He'd be perfect to get the ground up and running.

Lawwell previously spurned the advances of Arsenal when he was given the chance to take up a similar position at the Emirates Stadium, opting to remain at Celtic.

 

Liverpool’s new owner, American businessman John W Henry, wants someone with a knowledge of British football to fill the void left by the departure of Christian Purslow soon after his take-over deal was completed.

 

An appointment is likely to be made early in the new year.

I wonder if the departure of Christian Purslow as special advisor and non-executive director is an indication that the appointment of a CEO is close?

 

Presumably the person lined up to fill the vacancy will have to serve out a period of notice and will be prohibited from commencing employment with LFC until the gardening leave period has expired.
