A cracking episode where the Lane embezzlement storyline reaches a great climax. This was interwoven with more mundane stuff.

They were trying to woo the banker in the beginning, so it makes sense she'd have them more visible. Thought it was ace when she could see Pete was about to make a move and shot him down before it even got that far, with a simple "No, Pete". Reminded me of when she went drinking with Don last season and she anticipated the exact same thing with him.

 

Speaking of Pete, the guy is really on the edge and there must be a limit to the amount of humilation or rejection he can stomach. What the end game with him? Suicide? Homicide? Nervous breakdown?

I thought that was absolutely immense. Golden age of TV.

Yep intriguing, fascinating and sometimes creepy. The scenes in the hotel room were intriguing yet uncomfortable

Just started watching this, first episode was really good.

This season started out pretty lame... in comparison, and I was basically not arsed, but I kept watching it.

 

It's starting to shape up a bit nicer now, and is drawing me back in.

Yeah, I still am. I think it's the best show in all the land. Slicing the final season into two halves is really bullshit, though.

Also really enjoying it. Don Draper got it together with his threesome in the last episode. Ginsberg's "the other couch is full of farts" line was possibly the best thing I've heard all year.

I've avoided reading this thread incase it's got loads of spoilers, not that it might even be necessary. I've watched 5 or 6 episodes from season 1 and can't seem to get into it, I've read how it's meant to be this sophisticated and brilliant series but at the moment nothing seems to happen.

 

Does it get much better and for me to persist with it or have I wasted 5 hours of my life watching half the 1 season?

Read the thread, Jay. Spoilers don't really exist for Mad Men, as nothing ever happens. We were all of your opinion a few episodes in.

 

It's very pretentious and impressed with itself, but it the show on TV, in my view.

i think it's ace mate. It's slow it's very much character driven rather than storyline driven.But of course not everyone will like it.

 

At its worst it can be dull. At its best it's poignant insightful the music on its awesome as the show goes on as well.

Sexy as well. Christina Hendricks is obviously the most attractive woman in the world, then we've got Betty, Megan, Don and whoever Don happens to be putting it to.

It took me most of season one to get into it.  I found it slow at first but ended up getting into it as mentioned.  I liked Sterling and Campbell's characters from the off but Don's wife what a cunt and a shit actress.  I ended up skipping the scenes with her in it. 

 

I watched the first 4 Seasons within 1 or 2 weeks and thought that was it until I realised there were 2 other Seasons to watch.

I reckon this season has been right up there after perhaps falling down a little. I really am going to miss this show when its all done and dusted. Waterloo was a cracking episode.

Some parts were excellent some were awful.

 

The decision to split it into 7 episodes now and 7 next year is a mistake.
