I feel a bit dirty , but I agree with Platini to an extent on English clubs' pilfering of young foreigners from their academies due to legal restraints on them offering contracts like we can.

 

 

It's not an English problem. Take a look at the academies of the Spanish teams. You'll find a lot o young players there that are not Spanish. The same goes for Italy where they have a lot of young Africans in their academies.

Well Barca brought Messi over when he was 9 I heard. Barca have done it for ages though. Look at the wa the signed Bojan.....they offered his dad a job at the club.

Agreed. I think Platini's idea about poaching youngsters should come in soon.

Kids have the right to move, should they wish. If LFC or any other club offer better contract terms then it's up to Barca to respond to that challenge. It's a war for talent and any artificial control put in by Platini should be viewed as a restriction of trade.

Platini is looking at spreading equality throughout the game. My mate is a Barca fan and it pisses him that their players are being poached, and they are near powerless to do anything. You would soon be whinging if it was the other way round and we were being had off for millions each season.

I remember reading a Fabregas interview a while back and they asked him why he left Barca for Arsenal. He just said that the youth team were winning every game about 20-0 and he was bored shitless with the sheer monotony of it all.

 

Anyway, who needs this guy when we've already got Gerardo 'Messi Version 2.0' Bruna stinking out our reserves.
